Spot Diner - Maplewood
Spot Diner
Description
Spot Diner, formerly Mapleleaf Diner, offers a nostalgic yet refreshed dining experience with a warm, inviting atmosphere and a varied menu featuring breakfast classics and hearty entrees. Many patrons praise the attentive, knowledgeable staff—especially waitress Ishani—and the generous, flavorful dishes like crab cakes and chocolate layer cake. Quick service and reasonable prices add to its appeal. However, recent concerns have emerged, including order errors, failure to address allergens properly, and troubling experiences of racial bias, which have significantly marred some visits. While the diner shines in food and friendliness, consistency and inclusivity remain areas for improvement.

Undoubtedly one of our favorites. Just good food, great staff. Best Greek salad around. Give them a
BEAUTIFUL SERVICE. HUGE MENU, lot of options too choose from, the customer service was amazing and the food was top notch. Will definitely be returning
I ordered chicken scampi and received chicken and shrimp scampi. I am allergic to shrimp. I traded dishes with my boyfriend (who had received an entirely different sandwich than he had ordered) and complained when paying. The manager tried to console me by saying that at least they hadn't *upcharged me* for the shrimp, and when this did not satisfy my irritation over nearly being poisoned, he refunded me $10 on the $80 order. I am not coming back. This was a beloved local establishment since my early childhood; very sad to see the new management ruining it. Dietary restrictions: Served me allergens with no notice.
Update 04/30/23: The restaurant formerly known as Mapleleaf Diner is now called Spot Diner. They’ve given the place a fresh look with new upholstery and brighter paint. The menu remains largely the same, but there have been some adjustments, so feel free to ask your server if you're looking for something specific. The food continues to be delicious, and the service remains excellent. We visited on a Sunday at 11 AM, and even though the restaurant was crowded with two parties ahead of us, we only waited about five minutes for a table. The coffee refills were prompt, and we didn’t have to wait long for our meals. This has become our go-to diner. While it may not be as shiny and new as some others in the area, the food is tasty, the prices are reasonable, and the waitstaff is incredibly friendly (not in a fake way). What’s not to love?
This delightful diner is a hidden treasure in this small town. Recently renovated, the restaurant has a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The menu offers a wide variety of food options, including nostalgic breakfast favorites like waffles and pancakes, as well as hearty choices like steak! I especially appreciated the seating and my waitress, Ishani, who was exceptional. She genuinely cares about the restaurant and ensured that my experience was nothing short of wonderful!
