All the tables were either full or reserved for the night and we were lucky to get some seats at the bar. Friendly service and a genuine local atmosphere had us stay for long enough to...see what great food was being served here. The food is fantastic; Large portions of home made local favourites served with gusto from a compact and busy kitchen. After eating we were introduced to the local drink of Schorle' which is made from the local riesling and soda water (from a perpetully full fridge below the bar). I'd recomend a visit and try to book in advance if you want to eat there.

The owner offered us an umbrella, asked us where we were staying, said...he would pick it up in the morning. Great place, great service!!!!!!

The cozy atmosphere remains, and it still feels very inviting. I had the beef steak with Spätzle and mushroom sauce. The steak was beautifully tender and cooked perfectly, the Spätzle were delicious, and the sauce was wonderfully flavorful – everything was harmonious and very well seasoned. The portion was generous, and the price was reasonable. The service was also friendly and attentive. You can tell that they put their heart and soul into their work. Keep it up – I'll definitely be back!

When we originally moved to Mannheim almost 2 years ago, I remembered walking by Zwickerstube and thinking that we needed to come to this traditional German Pfa... read more When we originally moved to Mannheim almost 2 years ago, I remembered walking by Zwickerstube and thinking that we needed to come to this traditional German Pfaelzish restaurant. We finally went last night on a whim with no reservation and what a great experience. The staff seated us happily and we proceeded to have a great meal I had the Pfaelz Teller with all the traditional goodness that comes with Saumagen, Leberknodel and grilled wuerst. My wife had Rumpsteak mit Zwibeln that was tremendously tender and flavorful. Of course we matched the meal with local wines from the area. We were delighted and will be back! It does appear that there may only be just a few folks in the kitchen creating this delicious homemade food, so get there early or be prepared to have some extra glasses of wine (or beer) while you wait!
