I walk... read more We have now asked for the bill 4 times (and our plates were cleared 10 minutes ago, which also took a long time to clear after we had finished the meal.) I walked inside to pay and no one was available. It is not particularly busy so I don't know what the excuse is. The waiter did not offer us any drinks or any dessert or anything when he cleared our plates. We were totally ignored while eating, despite my glass and my partner's glass being empty. The waiter was in a foul mood with all patrons, and it seemed like a hassle for him to serve people. Onto the food, the food took a long time, I suspect because it was sitting there for a while. The food came out cool and became cold very quickly. Our side dishes were mixed up on each other's plates, a minor inconvenience but it's not as if we actually altered anything off the menu. I ordered the grill teller; the turkey was dry, the steak was not medium rare and I'm almost positive it wasn't the correct weight. My partner ordered the lamb and it came out well done rather than medium. I felt the quality of meat was fine, however she was very upset at the quality of the lamb. We have now waited 15 minutes for the bill. Do we have to ask a 5th time?

Reasonably good preparation of steak. Lobster soup was not bad. Prices are not that cheap but the quality is very good

Advertising a seemingly too-good-to-be-true "Irish beefsteak with your salad choice"( as much as-you-can-eat >one plate per diner only!) for under 18Euros..this... read more Advertising a seemingly too-good-to-be-true "Irish beefsteak with your salad choice"( as much as-you-can-eat >one plate per diner only!) for under 18Euros..this chain operates extensively throughout Germany, & if Mannheim is the norm, it really does deliver! Also offering an extensive a la carte menu, the efficient. attentive & friendly service in not unexpected formulaic surrounds was nonetheless a comfortable venue & they serve a more than pleasant red house wine by the glass alongside limited bottled options, Beer of course was a great fav for many! We really enjoyed the perfectly cooked to-our-order filet steak that was tender & flavoursome...it is to be always kept on the "Possible/Always" list when travelling in Germany. I should imagine you cannot go wrong!

There could things go wrong at Maredo, bumbling service, waiting times of biblical proportions or cramped seating, but one thing was never trifled with: The beef was always superb and prepared expertly. Surprisingly at Maredo Mannheim things were the other way around. Service was attentive and fast; we had a nice table in a quiet corner, despite the popularity of the restaurant, but the quality and preparation of my steak was substandard for the Maredo quality level I am used to. Because we had a nice sit-down, the service was attentive and the salad bar was of acceptable quality, I will not rate my visit two points, but award three points, but the steak was really a disappointment.
