The Peninsula Manila - Makati

I stay here and staff have a general knowledge of gluten free. No dedicated menu but can order separate items and staff are very accomodating.

I actually went there to eat at the peninsula lobby because of this review but was sorely disappointed when the waiters and waitresses gave blank stares when i mentioned gluten free options. They used to have a separate section in their menu from "the Farm at San Benito" which is a healthy vegan spa outside manila. However i was told they discontinued it and didn't replace it with anything similar. Id give them zero stars if possible because most 5-star hotels around the world are already sensitive to celiacs and gluten intolerant diet preferences. The manila peninsula is not. Unless of course you talk to the GM which i haven't tried but shows they're not trained or looking out for people with Gluten intolerances.

They have a great variety of buffet options for breakfast and many items on the lobby menu. They don't have a gluten free menu but they are really accommodating when you explain the gluten issue.

I would give them zero stars if I could, as many five-star hotels worldwide are already aware of and accommodating to gluten-sensitive and celiac guests. Unfortunately, the Manila Peninsula does not appear to be one of them. Unless you're speaking directly with the general manager—whom I didn't encounter—it's evident that their staff lacks training in handling gluten intolerances.
