Panera Bread - Madison
Panera Bread
Description
Panera’s Mineral Point Rd location offers a mixed dining experience. Many praise the friendly, attentive staff, clean environment, and delicious baked goods, especially their bagels and bread. Cozy outdoor seating adds to the charm for casual lunches. However, several customers report inconsistent food quality, delays, and order inaccuracies, with some meals arriving cold or poorly prepared. Service can be hit-or-miss, with occasional lapses in communication and app ordering frustrations. Notably, management has stepped up to address issues thoughtfully, showing strong customer care. Despite uneven experiences, this Panera remains a popular choice for fresh bakery items and casual dining.

I placed my order online 30 minutes ahead, but it arrived 15 minutes late. When I got my order, my drinks were missing. Upon asking about them, the woman at the counter gave me a random coffee and walked away. It was not only the wrong drink but also partially consumed. Moreover, the chicken sandwich was burnt on the outside and cold with a pink center. I recommend trying a different Panera location.
After waiting 20 minutes for my mac and cheese and soup, my mac and cheese arrived cold. When I asked if it could be warmed up, I was directed to a dirty microwave with a label that clearly said not to put bowls inside. When I mentioned this, I was told it just means the bowl gets hot, so be careful. Panera Bread used to be one of our favorite spots, but now I avoid it due to the high prices, long wait times, and cold, mediocre food.
If I could, I would give this restaurant zero stars. I ordered the French onion soup, and it was the worst I’ve ever tasted—terribly prepared. For a restaurant that charges $7 for a grilled cheese sandwich, I expected better than Kraft American cheese. They also had hardly any bread available; for a place called Panera Bread, that's simply unacceptable. I was tempted to go back and show them how to make proper French onion soup. I highly recommend avoiding this place!
Great Panera! The place was clean, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and served quickly.
I dined at the restaurant on December 2nd at 7 PM. My girlfriend ordered a chicken salad sandwich, which unfortunately had only a few small pieces of chicken in it—about four in total. She set the scant chicken aside, ate what little there was, and still felt unsatisfied. By the end of the meal, half of her sandwich remained untouched, mostly just filled with lettuce. Considering that making sandwiches is a straightforward task—especially for a place that's dedicated to that—it was disappointing. It seems that many restaurants in this area have young staff who lack a positive attitude.
