La Marea is a quaint gem tucked away on Willy Street that offers top-notch food and great service in a cozy home-style setting. Despite a slight disappointment in some dishes, the quality of the food remains excellent. The noise level can be overwhelming due to the restaurant's hard surfaces, but the overall experience is still highly recommended. The Tuesday "Date Night" special, offering great deals on both food and wine, is a must-try for anyone looking for a delicious dining experience in a warm and intimate setting.

The food and service were both excellent! The only reason I haven't rated it higher overall is because of the wine selections. We tried three different wines by the glass, which are also offered by the bottle, and we weren't impressed with their quality. View all feedback.
What Madyson Bergstrom dislikes about La Kitchenette:
I've been here a couple of times but this time it was a little disappointing. The braesola starter which I love really saved up on the mushrooms. And they were plain old mushrooms, not the fabulous wild mushrooms they had in the past. I was amazed. The pasta specifically was salty and dry. The fried calamari and prawns were very salty too. I love a place that has a great mood, is unpredictable, the dishes are excellent! dining room is small, therefore caffe vibe. get a reservation last week. we will try brunch next time!
La chef was great! I had a reservation for 9 o'clock on a Saturday (if they open) and was sitting immediately. nicole, our server, was super friendly and attentive. we ordered a cappuccino, Belgian hot chocolate, green French toast and regular French toast, and everything was delicious.
Overdraft expectations! the chef was phenomenal and prepared an incredible menu.
Like several Willy Street restaurants, La Kitchenette is in an old home. Both dining room and kitchen take up the first floor. There are only, perhaps, 7-8 tables, so it's quite intimate. The decor is eclectic, informal, and unpretentious. We were there on a Friday night at peak and one server was handling the whole room very capably. The pacing and ambiance were more European than American. Slower, more personal. Less transactional. We had an appetizer, dinner, a bottle of wine, dessert with coffee, and were there for about two hours. The food was, without exception, well designed and well executed. We've already made another reservation. Full throated recommendation.
La Kitchenette is one of the best experiences I have had in Madison! Their Lavender Creme Brulee is to die for : I have brought friends, and they are never disappointed and start going regularly. It is that good!
