Gao Express - Luton
Gao Express
Description
Gao’s Restaurant offers a mixed bag of culinary experiences, with patrons reporting both highs and lows. While many diners rave about the exceptional flavor and timely deliveries of dishes like King Prawn Fried Rice and Salt and Pepper Chicken, others express disappointment due to missing menu items or subpar execution, such as soggy rice and unappetizing curries. Despite some challenges in consistency, the restaurant's potential is evident, and many customers remain hopeful for improvements. Overall, Gao’s is a new contender worth a try, especially for late-night cravings, but attentive order verification may enhance the dining experience.

The food was excellent, and my kids really enjoyed it, especially since they can be picky when it comes to Chinese takeout. They also accommodated my daughter's preferences, which was a thoughtful gesture. This is one of the best halal Chinese restaurants in Luton. Thank you!
I ordered a 'Gao ' Special Chow Mein (Wet) L. £7.30 on Friday 11th Nov 2022 at 5:00pm Unfortunately, there was no King Prawns as stated in the menu. I only bought the dish as I wanted King Prawns. This may have been just an oversight. But this happens a lot. If its on the menu, it becomes a contract, it 's being fair, and its the principle. Generally, the taste of the dish was good/ok (the King Prawns were on my mind). Overall, 2.5 stars. Thus is a new business (new ownership). I do want these guys to do well. Take this review as constructive. I have added a pic of the menu also. Please order from them but just mention they need to include everything that 's advertised. Wishing you all the best Gao.
First time here. Sesame prawn toast was nice. Singapore fried rice with chicken and beef was disappointing, the rice was soggy and hardly any meat inside. Didn’t feel like it was fried rice more like steamed rice. Sweet chilli fried chicken was ok. Spicy satay sauce is full with oil. Was too late in the night and couldn’t be bothered to complain. It’s ok for late night takeaway. Nothing more. Won’t be in a hurry to come back unless I’m desperate.
I got the beef curry last night, I'm NEVER using them again. The beef was 4 pieces of gristle in a foul smelling salty sludge. The special fried rice was a solid mass of overcooked vegetables and overcooked rice. I only tried 2 mouthfuls and threw the rest in the bin. Within an hour I was being sick and I spent the rest of the night in the loo. NEVER AGAIN WILL I ORDER FROM THEM
