What Élisabeth Ollivier doesn't like about Portrait:
Booked for an early evening meal online. Telephoned at lunchtime on the day to ask if it was for Afternoon Tea (it wasn’t as we hadn’t selected that option). Then told could only have Afternoon Tea and only then if we came at 345. No...choice but to cancel and find somewhere else. No real apology. Would not recommend booking online. View all feedback. What Leanne Richardson likes about Portrait:
birthday dinner: such a tasty bite. can not be anything from the beautiful waitress (just then the correct balance of helpful, but not intrusive), great eating and beautiful drinks. ham hock starter was just as delicious as the mushroom stroganoff main (vegan, by the way) finished with a...triumphant skybeer sponge pudding. the only difficulty was to feel very full to handle the stairs. read moreThe restaurant located above the National Portrait Gallery offers a mixed dining experience according to recent visitor reviews. Some guests were disappointed by the lack of flexibility and poor customer service they encountered when trying to book online and were only offered Afternoon Tea at a specific time. Others found the food to be average, with one reviewer describing it as merely "edible, but not really satisfying." On the other hand, positive reviews highlighted the excellent service, varied menu, and delicious dishes, particularly praising the sea bass and gnocchi. The stunning views of the city skyline from the restaurant were also a standout feature mentioned by many guests. Despite some mixed opinions on the food quality and booking process, the majority seemed to appreciate the overall experience of dining at this iconic location.
