Great service and relaxed atmosphere. Fish and chips a little disappointing but the rest of the food for the 8 of us was great and reasonable price. Good find on the waterfront View all feedback.
What JackJ S doesn't like about Browns London Butlers Wharf:
Very poor service. We were a large group of 12 but we made a reservation and it took 3.5 hours.. Over 1 hour before receiving the first course. Lights were broken so it was very dark and half the party struggled to read the menu. Waiter kept taking orders for 2-3 people at a time and then disappearing and food was very pub like! Not comparable to Canary Wharf branch and wouldn’t go back. View all feedback.
Overall an ok experience. Food is ok but a little on the bland side. Service ok but not attentive and got some orders wrong, even though he tried his best to be personal and informative.
Sat outside rather than inside, which given the weather was a good choice...initially! If you think it 's going to rain, think carefully where you sit as the brollies don 't completely cover you if you are sitting at the edge. Anyway, the choice of starters is very good...in fact so good, both my dining colleage and I had two starters each and skipped the main. I cheesed out on the baked camembert seriously good, particularly with the garlic bread sticks. That was followed by the crab and advocado...very tasty. My dining colleague had the mackrel and mussels, which she loved. Jumping onto dessert, sticky toffee pudding went down a treat...with custard not ice cream (ice cream was listed on the menu). Call me old fashioned, but it had to be custard. A bit more custard would have gone down better, but you could tell it was made to order...complete with vanilla seeds. The Eaton Mess however, was too sweet for my dining colleague, so I thought I 'd give it a try. Too sweet for me too, and I have a sweet tooth. The atmosphere was calm, save for a little drama by another group of diners. The view was good, as it is on the [south] riverside. Would strongly consider going back again.
Browns is usually a trusted old friend ! However this time I had a booking at 5:45 the food only arrived at 6:45 and we had to be at the theatre for 7:20. We had made the staff aware of the time pressure. Therefore rushed food. Unset client and was explained away that they had a big group in! Note to management , if you’ve got a big group in match it with extra staff across departments .
Lovely eve. Great food and drink. Good selection af food and wine. Service very goid.. Thanks to Dermot for looking after us on our date Nate. It where my fiance and I first met.
Browns is a real favourite of the family because it’s reliably tasty, has a really relaxed vibe yet still feels special being on the river with that view of tower bridge. So it was a natural choice to celebrate my Nanna’s birthday. Our waiter was really attentive. My only issue was that I had some shell in my lobster risotto but there’s always a risk.
