We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kings Reach in the self-catering apartment. First and foremost, the cleanliness of the place was exceptional—quite possibly the cleanest self-catering accommodation we've ever experienced. Additionally, we were treated to a stunning view of Dunadd and the surrounding hills. The apartment was well-equipped, comfortable, and cozy. We had a fantastic three night stay at Kings Reach. Sara and Sean are great hosts, our room was really nice with a great view. The breakfast was excellent a lovely buffet with cereal, a range of plant milks, fruit, yoghurts, freshly baked bread and cakes/pastries. This is in addition to the cooked options that you pre order the night before! As well as tea and coffee being provided in the room there were vegan chocolates and shortbread. And a communal fridge on the landing between the two guest rooms had a great selection of plant milks. We were surprised how much there was to do and see in the area lots of walks and places of interest. It really is a great B&B in a great location. We'll be back!
I visited Kings Reach in May 2019 and already can't wait to go back. They have two rooms, each with two beds and also two self catering guest houses. Set in a stunning location just 2 miles from the Crinan Canal (a beautiful cycle ride or walk along the canal) and directly next to Kilmichael Glen. The area is full of beauty and ancient historic sites all just a stones throw away. The owners couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly with the rooms set up with everything you could want (even some vegan goodies in your room and a fridge on the landing for all your plant milk needs). They have also sourced a full list of local vegan friendly cafes and restaurants (of which there are several). Breakfast was a joy with fresh home baking and an extensive cooked menu available. They are also cycle friendly with secure and covered bike storage and located just off National Cycle Network 78.
My husband and I stayed in the B&B for a bit of luxury post camping, and were so glad we did! We were even able to get there by public transport with a little planning. It was exciting to have a full menu of vegan options for breakfast, including a full cooked breakfast, delicious pancake stack, 'facon ' or square sausage bagel, tofu scramble, and healthy chia porridge (as well as cereals, toast, home made muffins, fruit and yoghurts) we only wish we 'd stayed long enough to try them all. The vegan hosts were most kind, and enthusiastic about the fascinating history of the local area, recommending things to do. Evening eateries immediately nearby were a bit limited without a car (the local inn does a baked potato and a chilli which can be vegan) but it was nice to have a pub close at hand, and there were two fabulous cafes for vegans in Kilmartin and Tavyallich accessible by bus. No t.v. in the B&B but we didn 't miss it with those views! The beds were incredibly comfortable too. Go, you won 't regret it! (You don 't even have to be vegan to love it)
My wife and I recently stayed at the Kings Reach Vegan B B and it was the perfect getaway. The location is fantastic with lots of amazing locations to explore, including Dunadd Hill/Fort (which you can see from the B B with incredible historical significance for early Scotland and the surrounding area, Carnasserie castle, ancient rock art and countless trails and walks amongst other things. The views from our accommodation were idyllic. Delicious vegan food was home cooked by Sean Sara and was phenomenally good including freshly baked treats at breakfast! A choice of alternative milks were provided including Oat, Almond and Soya. Vegan chocolate and shortbread was even left in our room, which was delightful. A vegan could quickly get used to this type of hospitality! (it's so rare when travelling to be able to eat so well without adequate preparation, we had everything we could need at the Kings Reach! Our room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and a wonderful base to relax or go explore from. Sean and Sara were the perfect hosts who clearly care a lot about their guests and go above and beyond to deliver a perfect getaway experience. We really couldn't have asked for more and cannot recommend it enough A MUST VISIT!
The accommodation is comfortable and spacious with a view from our room of an important historical site (Dunadd hill fort) which Sean can tell you all about if you are interested (which we were). There are a wide range of vegan options for breakfast which really set you up for a day of exploring. Sean and Sara can give you plenty of information about where to find vegan food locally and also what to do whether you are interested in finding out more about the areas rich historical heritage or roaming around the local countryside which is rich in wildlife. On our second visit Sarah also arranged for us to take part in Beaver spotting tour which was being held just ten minutes drive away. As well as Beavers we saw sea eagles and porpoises during our stay. We will definitely return in the future and cannot recommend this place highly enough. Updated from previous review on 2019-06-25
