Sushi Sora - Lloydminster
Sushi Sora
Description
Lloyd's hidden gem is experiencing a rollercoaster of reviews, reflecting both exceptional cuisine and disappointing service. Diners praise the food's quality, especially creative sushi rolls and savory mushroom poppers, often recommending takeout for a better experience. However, multiple patrons have noted significant service issues, including long wait times and unprepared orders, leaving a bad taste in their mouths. While the atmosphere is inviting, patrons have suffered from uncomfortable seating and poorly maintained facilities. Despite the setbacks, the excellent food keeps hopeful diners returning, indicating that this restaurant may be on the verge of a much-needed turnaround.

Walking in the doors you wouldn't think it was a sushi restaurant. Looks more like a roughed in BBQ or western restaurant. Zero atmosphere. The music was all over the place, but definitely not appropriate for a sushi place (80's and 90's love songs). The staff were all sitting at a booth. No uniform or anything identifying them as staff. Was seated and was given an a la carte menu with no mention of an all you can eat option. Luckily I had read about the new all you can eat so I asked. Menu was decent. First round came out and was beautiful. Great visual. Taste was on point. Great bite. Went down hill from there. Wait times got much longer and food quality dropped as it got busier. Chicken bites had bone and cartilage in almost every piece. As appealing as egg shell in an egg salad sandwich. Final vegetable roll came out and was a surprise to say the least. First vegetable roll I have ever had that didnt have a vegetable in it (avocado and cucumber). Was also a cold roll. Not a good bite. Should have warm tempura veg rolls. Server came to table once to inquire on food. Did not ask about drink refills until we were done. Asked for bill and had to wait 10 minutes. Kept forgetting until he passed our table. Not a great visit. Has potential but weak effort by staff and management/ owners. First time in, most likely last time unless major changes are made.
Everything was perfect, as always! The staff is wonderful and attentive. My family loves dining here, and I always recommend it to friends to give it a try.
This place has gone down hill so fast. they are offering all you can eat. I waited 20 mins after being seated and no waiter came. I just left. Sushi WA is so much better.
