What Annalisa Barbieri doesn't like about The Root Community Emporium:
I had a lunch ones. Ordered a sandwich and a latte. The place is charming, and food is good (not too many choices though) however, after making my sandwich, the staff left everything on a table where they made it as well as all other produce that I am pretty sure should be stored in a fridge. I sat there for at least 15 min but nothing changed. The place was not busy, but the girls didn't bother to clean up after coo... View all feedback.
You won't believe you are in a small town in the prairies! This place can rival any excellent restaurant in Paris! The ambience in excellent. The menu is full of surprises, the service is excellent , price is reasonable, and you will fall in love with this place! It's worth even a drive to Lloydminster just to eat in The Roots.
Great little cafe/restaurant in Lloydminster. The Root is definitely somewhere worth visiting if you 're on your route to, from or through the area. I love that they feature a load of local artists work in the establishment. I think that they tend to have live music there every night there 's an open stage on Tuesday definitely worth checking out. For food I had the full crab so good! Definitely didn 't leave me feeling crabby afterwards! Drinks are reasonably priced and plentiful. In terms of the live music venue side of things, the staff are all very pro, they look after musicians quite well. Sound guy was extremely good. I 'll be back for sure whether it 's to perform or to grab a bite.
This is the place to get good sushi and large portions. Has a cafe feel with art on the walls and items for sale. Has a stage for occasional music. Even has an outdoor patio on the street. Selection of beers and wine. A nice casual change.
With my job I often split my time between Edmonton and my hometown of Lloydminster (for those that don't know, a city 2hrs east of Edmonton . Up until the The Root opened, dining options were pretty lacking here, it was either pub food or local family restaurants where the menu is so huge that you know it's not all made fresh. Well welcome to The Root, owner Amanda definitely saw the whole in the market and filled it wonderfully! The menu is small and I love that they work with local farmers and meat producers to source as many ingredients as possible locally. The food is delicious and portion size is perfect as I had a salad, the small soup that comes with the entree (I went with the tortilla and it was super yummy! , and even desert after and never felt like I overate! I am so excited that they will be opening for lunch as I can only imagine the delicious options to choose from! The decor and ambience is very modern meets retro, it has a warm feeling to it and it also doubles as a shop which carries pieces from local artists, which is very cool! If you're ever passing through Lloydminster or from here this is definitely a must stop place!
I was dragged to this place. Literally. I called what kind of place it was before I had even seen the restaurant. I knew what to expect seeing the menu alone. I was right. This place is a haven for hipsters (What you get if a nerd and a potato had a retarded love child) and hippies. It is pretentious. Good for them, because there were only 2 people at the bar and a table of 8-10 beyond that the entire time we were there. All but empty. Since I was there, I did order myself a beer called Red Hammer. It was actually very good. I was admiring a painting on the wall and asked the server if it was the original or a print. What I got back was a mix of both answers. Okay. Cut down on the grass, man. The pork that arrived was well presented. The mustard was warm and had a nice kick. The pork itself was tough and dry. The mashed potatoes were awesome, though. I can't say enough good things about them. The chef also provided our table with some cream of mushroom soup that there was extra of. It was very good. Extra star for that. Overall, it's not worth the money. The beer is great. The food isn't worth the cost. The service is good. I'll stick to places that cater to normal people.
