T... read more We were fortunate to spend 8 nights in the Mouraria district in Lisbon. The last three nights we spent at Restaurante Aviz, and wish we discovered it earlier. There are so many restaurant choices in Lisbon, with a wide quality. We were looking for some basic food, cooked well and outside of the typical touristy format. Service at Avis was fun!! Our waiter spoke little English, but wanted to please and made us feel at home. The salmon was excellent, as were the ribs, chicken, and other daily specials. There is wifi available so we were able to translate when needed. Wine, beer and food are inexpensive. Prepare to carb up as bread, rice and potatoes are served with most meals. Authentic food, cooked weil, and served in a friendly environment- exactly what we were looking for.

Our dinners of cod, sea bass and peri-peri chicken were fabulous. A great local restaurant choice.
