Firstly you need to ring the doorbell to get in! The welcome is warm and the service attentive. This is not a trattoria! It's fine dining. For our set menu choice there were several fish-based courses beautifully prepared and having contrasts in colour and flavour that worked perfectly. The chef and the waitress explained the courses as they were served and were happy to answer our interrogations. The Etna white wine added to the experience. If you're looking for something a bit special then I can recommend it.
The food and the service were outstanding especially considering I have an intollerance which i had not informed about at time of booking. Pity about the location.
We cannot fault this small gem, the welcome is warm and friendly, the food is exceptional and the cellar is carefully selected and perfect. All dishes are presented and explained by Peppe (L 'Oste) each one beautifully balanced and prepared with care and respect for local produce. We first went because La Madia was closed, and have never felt the need to go elsewhere when in Licata.
A culinary stroke of luck in the alleys of Licata By a stroke of luck, our search for a good restaurant in the winding alleys of Licata led us to Pepe and Chiara's. We almost didn't get in, as there was a slight misunderstanding with the charming chef, Pepe, at the door – fortunately, everything was quickly and cordially resolved. The restaurant is small and cozy, with a maximum of 20 seats and a lovingly decorated atmosphere that perfectly matches Pepe's creative cuisine. Chiara welcomes guests with a warm, pleasant manner, which further enriches the visit. You can choose between a 4- or 6-course menu – we opted for the 4-course menu, accompanied by an excellent red Syrah. The wine selection is excellent and pairs wonderfully with the dishes. The prices may be high, but the quality and professionalism are well worth it. In the end, we were completely satisfied.
Tried reserving a table for a WEDNESDAY more than a month in advance. After several back-and-forths (I speak Italian), restauranteur finally decided to inform me that he doesn’t make reservations more than a week ahead and advised me to make my reservation the week before we’d like to visit. Now, a week before arrival and after having planned to stay in Licata for an extra night for the sole purpose of eating at his restaurant, he informs me that he is only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Are you serious?? Website states that the restaurant is open every day but Monday. Don’t waste your time planning a stop here.
