When we arrived, the restaurant was busy and we were informed that w... read more I made a reservation in advance to avoid waiting due to my recent knee replacement surgery. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy and we were informed that we had to wait for the manager to confirm our booking and seat us. We ended up waiting for about ten minutes before being seated. Despite understanding that it was a busy time and that there were more tables outside needing service, I was disappointed with the slow service on this occasion. We have dined here before and even during busy times, the service was never this delayed. It might be beneficial to have other staff members besides the manager able to seat customers to improve the overall service. I hope that the restaurant hasn't taken on too much and that the service won't suffer as a result. The food was tasty and served promptly, although the lamb and turkey roasts were already sold out.

After driving for over an hour to get to cuckmere luckily I rang to see if there was any chance of moving my booking to a little later to be told that I didn't have a table. I was told they had my reservation but there was no space.

Menu is quite varied with fairly standard pub food choices. Everything we had was OK but lacked much creativity. Great location overlooking the Cuckmere canal and river delta.
