Great food. Courtesy staff. Appropriate prices (compared to all others). Limited raw materials, but they have a wide selection of menu items. Excellent gyro meat. If you order something with cucumber sauce, you will get the sauce on the side and apply it yourself. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Holy Land Cafe:
Delicious but not like it was 5 years ago. The food didn?t taste as yummy as it did when we lived in KC. Still a great place to get some chicken shawarma!l and hummus! View all feedback.
Lives in NY and Lenexa, Holy Land is the stop for dinner. Excellent food served by very nice people. Not 1 favorite dish; everything is fresh and perfectly prepared.
It's a beautiful place. The ambience is humble, although I was a little surprised at the reception. When I entered, there was no one to receive us and bring us to a table. In the midst of confusion, my husband pointed out a stand and said we were sitting and seeing what happened. Soon a guy came up with the menu and asked us about our order. I rolled through her menu and saw Turkish coffee, I had heard so much about having a strong desire to enjoy one. Stronger than my concern for my acne breakouts. Recently I discovered that coffee causes acne for me. Think about how sad it is. I loved coffee and now I can't drink it. Anyway, I ordered a cup of Turkish coffee. And it was different from the coffee we get at Starbucks or a similar café, not even nearby. It was aromatic and slightly sweetened with a strong taste of Cardamon. I had to satisfy myself with some sips. The food in the menu looked amazing, and I wanted to order everything, so I ordered an appetizer dish, the hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, tabbouleh salad, Jerusalem salad, Dolma, spanakopita and pita bread. In which I got something from everything. And everything was perfectly prepared, and every bite was tasteful.
OMNOMNOMNOM. I have my fair share of Middle East food, including food from the Middle East itself from my travels, and Holy Land Cafe is definitely one of the best places in KC for Middle East foods. The Falafel is perfectly crisp, warm and one of my favorites. Honestly, you can't go wrong when you go. Everything's delicious. Surely there are a few days, but from my experience I have experienced consistency. Do not discourage the reviews you would cheat your stomach by jumping out on this place.
Read reviews on Urbanspoon and Yelp, so thought I'd give it a try. Five of us ordered takeaway after a Chiefs game, and everyone enjoyed their dinners. The chicken curry and lamb curry were tasty and tender. For $10 a pop, it's hard to complain about this little joint. Not much variety, but serviceable. If you'd rather have variety and better service, go across 87th to Flavor of India. For value and speed, you won't be disappointed at Holy Land.
Great service. A visit to Holy Land Cafe was executed for dinner. First impressions there was a fleeting takeout service, the place was nicely designed and was very clean. I sat right away and drank the order. For an appetizer I ordered the combination plate that has samples of hummus, Baba Ganouj, Spanakopita, Falafel, Tabouli, Dolma and Jerusalem salad. The hummus had a great texture, but was very bland. The Baba was pretty good, like the Spanakopita, Tabuuli, Jerusalem Salat and Dolma. The falafel was a bit salty with a somewhat dense texture. Dinner was an order of Lamb and Kifta Shish Kabobs. The lamb was very hard and overcooked. The Kifta had a nice seasoned taste, but was very dry. The herbal part was miniscule. The rice was good. Overall service was pretty daring good (but a bit on the creepy side) and good enough to get a thumb for my visit to Urbanspoon, although the food was missing something during my visit. Give the Holy Land Cafe an attempt if you can. I think I'll repeat when my future trips allow.
