On our way to Sligo, we stopped in Carrick-on-Shannon and dined at Himalayan. While the decor is a bit dated, it actually adds to the charm, evoking the feel of dining in northern India or southern Nepal. The food, however, does not disappoint—it's fresh, bursting with flavor, and served in generous portions. The ambience at Himalayan is pleasant, and the food arrived piping hot. However, our prawn puri starters were overly salty and seemed to use lower-quality ingredients. The chicken tikka masala was pale and had an overpowering coconut flavor, more like a pasanda than a traditional masala. The server was very polite and helpful. Amazing aromas and tastes. The lamb meat starter is plentiful and fulfilling. I had the traditional Himilian lamb curry, pilau rice and garlic and coriander nan. Exquisite!
Himalayan is likely the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to, and certainly one of the finest in Ireland. Could you please consider offering takeaways? Takeaway services are currently permitted in Longford, and with everything being so bleak right now, some good food would really lift our spirits!
I hadn’t been to Himalayan for several months, and I’m so glad we returned. Dinner last night was incredible—the blend of herbs and spices was exquisite. The waiter was also very friendly and warmly welcomed us back. I truly believe it’s the best Indian restaurant in Ireland. The food was freshly prepared and served piping hot. All I can say is, give this place a try—you won’t be disappointed!
