I work all over Leeds and have probably tried a sandwich from almost every cafe in the area over the years. The reason I am writing this review, aside from the fact that no one else has reviewed it, is because it is one of the few cafes that I enjoy going back to. The full English breakfast is always delicious and reasonably priced. The food hygiene rating from Leeds City Council is 5 out of 5. Please note that it is a cafe, not a restaurant, so it is only open during the day. However, it is open on Sundays, and my wife and I sometimes stop by when we are in the area.
I ordered the biggest breakfast option and the eggs were served as an omelette. There was no butter on the toast, which was disappointing. I had to throw away the coffee as I ordered a cappuccino but received a black, unpleasant coffee instead. I rarely write negative reviews, but after spending over £13 on just breakfast and coffee, I feel cheated. None of the food was edible. I would not recommend ordering from this restaurant if you want a decent meal or drink.
I stumbled upon this restaurant during a recent visit to Leeds while searching for a place to have breakfast. It was one of the options with decent reviews and had parking available outside, which was convenient. The menu offered a variety of options, although I found it to be a little on the pricier side compared to similar places I have been to. The restaurant was clean, tidy, and had a welcoming atmosphere. The menu was easily readable as it was displayed on the counter. I ordered two big breakfasts and one vegetarian option, priced at £6.50 and £5.50 respectively, making the total £18.50. However, I was charged over £21 initially. When I questioned this, I was told the extra charge was for the vegetarian sausages, which I assumed were included in the menu. After having them removed, I expected to pay £18.50 but was charged £19.40. When I asked for an explanation, I was told the extra charge was for sitting inside. I was surprised as it is a cafe, where else would one sit, especially with the option of indoor or outdoor seating. Regardless, dining in should not incur an extra charge, and there should have been a sign indicating this policy. The quality of the breakfast was satisfactory, although the ingredients seemed of poor quality – the tomatoes were tinned. Overall, I would rate the experience 3.5 out of 5. Additionally, I had to request a change of milk for my tea due to black bits floating in it. While the staff did make the change, there was no apology, which I found lacking in common courtesy. I would rate the customer service as 2 out of 5, as there is room for improvement. I would not recommend this restaurant unless there is better customer service and fair pricing practices in place.
