My friend and I visited M'deena the last week of Ramadan and were warmly attended to by the lovely Katie and owner Nadir with a fantastic evening meal in a pleasant, colourful setting. We had the apricot lamb tagine and a chicken shawarma dish, both delicious huge! and well presented, followed by the chocolate baklava (a revelation, oh my goodness . Will definitely return, and in the meantime, will be visiting these sweet people again at their fab Leeds Kirkgate Market venue. :
I took my girlfriend here having been once before some time pre COVID. For starters we had the starter plater for 2, felafels, hummus addas which all came with complementary bread. The felafels where so so good. Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The hummus, i mean there is hummus and there is M'Deena hummus. The addas was nice and light but the sharing plater of dips was so good if my girlfriend and I were at home eating we would have fought each other to see who would lick the plate
I visited this restaurant last night and I have to say it was the worst meal I have ever had! We have eaten a lot of Moroccan/Lebanese food before and this was nothing like it. The woman in the restaurant left and came back with two bags from Sainsbury's, including a pasta sauce that was obviously used to make the hummus. All the food was clearly bought from the store and heated up in the microwave. The hummus was cheap and tasteless, probably out of a tin. It was thick and could be used to fill holes in walls. The portions were tiny and we were all still hungry. The vegan halloumi grill was advertised as a dish with pickles, but it was just half an aubergine with a slice of processed cheese on top and no pickles, all for £11.99. I would recommend avoiding this place as the food is overpriced and substandard. It was a truly awful experience.
We had a wonderful time! Lots of vegetarian options..Being vegetarian can make dining out hard, especially with a fussy 8 year old vegetarian. My daughter LOVED every individual dish of our sharing platter and her main! Outstanding! Really friendly service, was lovely to chat with you. Loved our drinks. Nice decor. I think we've found our place to eat out.
This was my 3rd visit to this restaurant. I was very discounted this time. My meal was not edible. The kofta was a meat Patti that was cold. I was frightened to eat my prawns as I didn’t want to get ill. As these things unfolded I noticed just how unhygienic the entire place was. Dirty cutlery, lipstick on my glass and the scum between the table legs
