Kasa Rosa - Leeds

So, last night we went to Kasa Rosa in Morley for the second time (after we had such an amazing experience first time . All I can say is if you’ve never been there and are looking for top quality, delicious food, wonderful service and a lovely atmosphere you NEED to go! We had mussels and prawns to start with homemade bread to dunk in the delicious sauces! (I actually drank the rest of mine it was so tasty! For the main, my partner had fillet steak with parmesan mash and a port sauce which was amazing (I had it the first time and it didn't disappoint the second! . I had honestly the best seafood dish I’ve probably ever had: monkfish with a whole shoal of clams, mussels and prawns in a lovely seafood sauce. I've eaten A LOT of seafood at some of the best restaurants up and down the country and this seriously impressed me. On the side we got green beans, a rocket and parmesan salad and dauphinoise potatoes. For dessert (sorry, was too delicious for pics! we had ginger sponge with custard and extra ice cream (cause I’m weird and like both! it was fluffy, gingery and the custard was light and packed with vanilla. The perfect way to end the meal!! The staff were also really friendly. Admittedly they were rushed off their feet due to one member of staff off sick but we honestly never noticed. Everything came out hot and fresh, and service was speedy considering the place was pretty busy. With pre dinner drinks, a bottle of wine and three fantastic courses, it was exceptionally reasonable considering the high standard of food quality. Yes, it's not wetherspoons prices but you really do get what you pay for. Wow can’t wait to go back!

This restaurant is fairly local and we have driven past it hundreds of times but never actually gone in. I’m not sure why as we usually love going to Italian restaurants but I guess it never looked very exciting from the outside. After seeing so many great reviews though, we decided to visit for lunch on a Saturday and were really looking forward to it as we have not eaten out much during the pandemic. The interior is certainly nothing special and first impressions were that it seemed a little gloomy. There was not much light, although I think a few of the blinds were closed to stop the sun blinding you. The tables are modest and have probably seen better days and the wooden chairs with very straight backs were some of the most uncomfortable chairs I have sat in for a very long time. Not sure if that is to stop you from overstaying your welcome but I did not feel relaxed at all and the tables for 2 are tiny so it felt like everything was going to fall over the edge at any moment. We were greeted and seated quickly as it was very quiet but it did get fairly busy shortly after we arrived and it was clear that there were a lot of regular diners who were familiar with the owners/chefs. Our food arrived quickly and was hot but we had mixed feelings about the taste and it is fair to say that my husband enjoyed it slightly more than I did. The prawns were good, the garlic mushrooms were very stringy and watery and the garlic bread with tomato was pretty awful as it was covered in burnt garlic that left an unpleasant after taste. The lamb was good but the Calzone was chewy and a little bland. From a service perspective, there seemed to be 2 chefs and 1 poor waitress who was running about and struggling to keep up. I’m not sure if they usually only have a single waitress but I think a second person was required to help serve and then prepare bills etc to ensure that a decent level of customer service was maintained. We did find it a little strange that when my husband was offered mint sauce to go with his lamb, a jar of Colmans was just brought and left on the table with no lid and just a bit of mint was in the bottom. We later saw this same jar left by the side of the desk near the till, still with no lid on and it all seemed a bit unhygienic and strange. When you are paying c£20 for a lamb main course, perhaps make some mint up in a small dish and bring it to the table? After our meal, we asked for the bill but as the waitress was so busy, we ended up walking to the main desk to get it and to pay. It was also a little surprising that the bills were done with a pad and pen, prices looked up on the menu and then added up using a calculator this could be described as ‘quaint’ but also very ‘inefficient’. Overall, I think this is a decent place and as the locals seem to go back on a regular basis, it must have something to offer that we did not necessarily see on this first visit. I personally am not in a hurry to go back but my husband did enjoy most of the food and would probably like to give it another go. In order to improve (in my opinion)……..the menu prices are towards the higher end but the food quality, the comfort of the tables/chairs and the general customer service do not seem to be aligned to the price paid. So, some bits I would rank as 2 stars, some as 3 and some as 4 but I settled on a 3 star average rating based upon this visit.

Had a family meal here last Thursday , first time we had all been together for a while and never eaten here, loved it all, we had tapas to start and share, couldn’t fault anything, we had a vegetarian and a picky eater with us, restaurant was packed and had to wait a little but but we didn’t mind the food was worth the wait.

Dined as a party of 4 recently. Had a table booked for 8.35 (wanted 8.15, upon booking we were offered 8.35 which was fine). Arrived about 10 minutes early. The restaurant was packed with a great atmosphere. We weren’t asked for our name or booking time. We were shown upstairs, given menus, and offered drinks. We were the first to be seated upstairs which soon became full. All other tables were tables for 2 which I why I assume, as a 4, we were the first to arrive but the last to be shown to our table. Food orders were taken before we moved downstairs. 2 garlic pizza bread starters and mains each. The service and communication was very good, we thought. We had to chase up our starters. We were very hungry and a little disappointed to eventually receive our garlic bread a whole hour after our initial booking time. They did bring some bread and oils to compensate for our wait. The staff seemed rushed off of their feet. Main courses followed shortly thereafter and the great service levels in ensuring that our drinks were constantly topped up resumed. Weren’t offered a dessert as we were literally the last table in the restaurant because of our earlier waits. The bill represented good value for money. I have mixed feelings about returning. The food was lovely but seems that they operate an over-booking policy which I don’t think is fair on their customers.

I have eaten at Kasa Rosa many times, my last visit was two months ago with my sister for her birthday treat, today I visited with a friend who had not eaten there before, half way through our meal the waitress came over to me to inform me that she did not charge me for the sweets the last time I had eaten there, I was so embarrassed and the owner Alan came over to say "just forget it she should not have said anything "This spoiled my meal and was a dreadfully embarrassing situation to be in
