As a university society we booked the Borough for our annual Christmas meal. Initially it was advertised as a 'buffet ', which it is not. Each person was limited to two sandwiches, which I would not feed to my dog. The bread was soggy and the beef really chewy, not to mention all the food was cold. Although the initial price of £10.50 per person was agreed (which is excluding drinks), the manager attempted to charge us an extra £160 for vegan sandwiches they chose to make and nobody requested. This extra charge was not disclosed prior to booking. When I attempted to dispute the charge the woman serving us refused to deal with me. The manager was extremely rude and had terrible customer service skills. I would not recommend.

If we couldn't hear that intermittently throughout the night it would have been 5. Breakfast was very nice and service was great. Location is fantastic for walking into Lancaster and stumbling back after a few drinks!

My daughter ordered two cokes at 12:50 and didn't receive them until half an hour later. My husband and I had to go to the bar to get served. When our food arrived, I was shocked to find that my roast beef dinner was cold and the beef was very undercooked and tough. I had to ask for a steak knife and we were not offered any condiments, such as horseradish, which I found odd. It was the worst meal I have had in a long time and I definitely won't be returning anytime soon. For £16, my dinner was very disappointing and I could have easily made a meal at home for four people for the same price. Overall, the experience was very poor. The restaurant used to be better and needs to improve their food quality and lower their prices.
