So many people always rave about Commonwealth and the crazy number of vegan options. But really there aren't even that many and what is offered isn't anything spectacular. Cute area and the staff members were all great but kinda eh.
I liked the small neighborhood cafe dropped in-between homes. Inside was average for that type of cafe. I have to agree with another Happy Cow review that there are not an exciting number of options for vegans. A crumbled meat substitute available and a vegan butter. No egg substitute. First customer on a Saturday morning and they were out of a list of four things which further narrowed vegan options. In essence, if looking for a place in Millersville to eat and this is nearby as it was for me, I would go back versus driving out of my way a distance.
Wonderful place for breakfast/brunch with enough vegetarian/vegan options to choose from. Excellent coffee with non-dairy creamer available. Food has always been tasty and service has always been personal and pleasant. Updated from previous review on 2023-11-21
We had visited this location on a whim July 25 '21. It is located in such a quiet area of Lancaster City I would 've never thought to look there for a restaurant. My husband and I wanted a quiet place for brunch and this worked out perfect! The staffwas amazing, the food was bursting with flavor and the presentation of the food was awesome as well! Shown in the pictures arethe salted maple lattes, loaded avocado toast and chicken and waffles. I recommend this for anyone who enjoys supporting localfamily owned business where the food is impeccable!
Absolutely horrible experience! We were tourists traveling in Lancaster and we were recommended to try commonwealth for Breakfast. We checked out the website and decided to give it a try. We fought with parking for a couple minutes but didn’treally mind, but when we walked inside we were greeted by two young hostess’s and they were condescending, aloof and justplain ignorant. They asked we had reservations, we said no and despite the fact the 4 tables were empty they told us they couldnot serve us today. Almost every restaurant I’ve ever been to will give you a wait time and then you decide if you want towait. They just flat refused our business. They did not apologize or offer an explanation but just smugly dismissed us. Wewill not be back. This place was very “trendy” and the crowd was very young and hip, I guess older, heavy set peoplearen’t the clientele they are looking for. Very disappointed.
