The Clydesdale Inn

The Clydesdale Inn
3.7 / 5 (3560 reviews)

Description

The restaurant received mixed reviews from customers, with complaints about bland food, rude staff, and a noisy atmosphere. However, some guests appreciated the friendly service, reasonable drink prices, and delicious food. There were concerns about the outdated interior and safety hazards like exposed wires. Despite some negative experiences, others enjoyed the new menu from the recent owners, particularly recommending the basket of beef starter. Overall, the restaurant seems to have potential with improvements needed in several areas to appeal to a wider range of diners.

Returned after my previous bad review and the owner replying saying to give it another go and I’d be entitled to a free drink I’d rather drink someone’s dirty bath water The place is stinking of damp The staff are alright although could do without them smoking at the fire exit n trying to mask the dampness smell with fag reek The toilets are a complete disgrace with no toilet roll or lid and bits falling from the ceiling I honestly couldn’t bring myself to order food as it’s that bad Had a couple of drinks but couldn’t wait to leave It’s needing a complete overhaul There is plaster patches that have been done badly and not painted And the carpets have life forms growing in it The place is a complete pit and absolutely filthy I took a picture of the toilet cause it’s that bad

Staff were nice and pleasant and that’s the only nice thing I can say I’m afraid We ordered a few starters as it’s a new menu n thought we would see what it was like Obviously it’s the menu the chef got taught (badly) in barlinnie The chicken goujons had that much oil on the plate that the Americans were considering invading it The potato skins turned out to be one half a potato covered in cheese and small ham cubes looking like it had been nuked in the microwave or made in Nagasaki during the bombing The prawns were passable as a dish The ham hock terrine was like mush The place is a complete dive now, although the staff were lovely and friendly they sat at the bar while the place is filthy and run down and I’ve been on cleaner building sites It’s up for sale at the moment so hopefully whoever takes it over gets it back to what it once was as it’s a complete dive now with holes in the wall and stinking of dampness

Went here for the second time since the new menu was introduced. There were 4 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, chicken with haggis, beef olives and fish and chips. We all had a lovely panna cotta to finish. The service from both the young waitress and the manageress was very friendly and efficient. I can't say what it's like as a pub at weekends as only been here on a weeknight but will definitely return for food.

My wife and I have lived in the area for nearly 10 years and we do like to call in for a drink and the odd meal. The Clydesdale (formerly a Wetherspoons pub) offers a good range of Real Ales and food at very reasonable prices. When the pub changed ownership, many of the staff transferred over. I have to say that this was a very sensible move as the staff knew many of the clients very well.

I went into the Clydesdale meet a friend last night only to be told by the staff that the price of a pint of Stella had now reached £3.70. This is the second price increase this year and a pint of Stella has gone up 13.7% in real terms. All the staff here are really friendly and provide an excellent service ALWAYS! I really cannot understand how any business can justify an increase of this magnitude. Whilst at the bar ordering my drink, I did take into account other customers reaction to the price increases and I felt really sorry for all the bar staff who were dealing with the shock of the customers extremely well. Rachael (the mangeress) and all her staff do a truly wonderful job serving the locals of Lanark and to put nice staff in a difficult position is very unfair. I just wondered if the owners of this chain actually realise that the price of a pint of Stella is now more than in a pub in Central Glasgow!!! I'm a pensioner approaching the age of 80 and on a fixed income and I just wished that my pension rose by 13.7% per annum to cope with these extortionate price increases. Do the owners actually realise that if you walk just over 100 yds from this establishment that people can get a pint of the same beer for 35p less?? This 2nd additional price is not on sorry. I hope that readers of this review will actually check all my other 84 reviews and see just how positive I normally am. Please also check my last review for the Clydesdale which was also very positive. The staff here are second to none as is the manageress Rachael all of whom do a wonderful job.
