What User doesn't like about Steak 'n Shake:
I did find that the staff I spoke with remained friendly and enthusiastic about their work, which was nice to see. Unfortunately, for me, the Steak 'n Shake that I cherished growing up will never feel the same. To the man in the tie: please refrain from fixing what isn't broken and focus on enhancing the restaurant rather than diminishing it.
I want to express my gratitude to all the wonderful staff who created so... View all feedback.
I came at 6:30 on a Monday night. I have ordered a new kiosk, found a place and then a guess to grab my own cup and drink. sitting for 20 minutes and not a worker has even confirmed us. by the way? a rod (on a break, I guess) said, excuse me and before me to take a drink for himself, then he went into the back room. a little rude to skip their customers. at 7ish I heard my name on the loudspeaker and went to pick up my order. I tried to say they think, but they could not understand the concept of appreciation. I'll say that eating is almost as good as before. my daughter and both had the double and it was juicy and delicious. the pommes were also crispy. just be kind.
A far cry from the Steak and Shake of the past. The burgers? Still very very good! In fact, all the items are just as tasty as they always have been. What is lacking is their difference between a Culver's or Five Guys. They are all good, and when more competition exists, you can't cut back on your dine-in experience, and that is exactly what they did. No more order-taker, instead you get to peck your order in at the kiosk. The tables are worn down raw and scratched up as well as the chairs. The overall cleanliness is still very good. No condiments available, instead you have to ask for it. It is sad to see the once excellent dine-in service drop below what you have at a McDonald's.
It would be nice if they could fill the milkshakes up to the top. Instead it was half filled then topped with whip cream. Steak ‘n skimp on the shake.
This was the worst experience I've ever had a steak n shake. The place was dirty. Every single table needed to be wiped down and the floors were sticky. They got my order wrong and when we went to go talk to someone, there is no one to be found. The bathroom is gross as well. Their standards have went way down it seems since they don't have servers anymore. The food was awful as well. I didn't even finish because it just wasn't good. Fries were cold, cheese sauce was congealed, my son's garlic burger was one of the most disgusting things I've ever tried. Their milk shakes were the only good thing that we got. Maybe they should change to just a drive thru ice cream place.
Heartbreaking. One of my favorite restaurants is nothing but a shadow of what it was.Let’s begin with my first step into the store. No greeter anymore, to take us to a table? Oh well. There was a lady, possibly the manager at the pay counter who not only didn’t greet us, but literally pay no attention to us, she was having too much of a fun conversation with another customer. So I was the one who have to figure out that there were no cashiers anymore, and it was all a “pay yourself” terminal style. So we ordered.I was hoping that at least the food was unchamged, but no. No more serving at the table, no; you need to listen for your number now. While I waited, I saw a few things, the most annoying part was the “characters” in the kitchen, coming in and out. Some where better than others, but one of them has the dirtiest uniform I’ve ever seen at a Steak n Shake. Sad.The store was clean, though. The tables not as much but they were not filthy either. The food finally got called in, and that was The saddest part. Presentation was “alright” but someone had the brilliant idea of brushing the buns with a LOT of butter. I actually had to pat my burger dry. Temperature? LUKEWARM. The onion rings were not crispy but at least hotter than the burger. And the burger itself was sad looking. At least my banana shake was alright but now they use those stupid paper straws that get soggy before you are done. My son actually threw his milkshake away because he said it was more whipped cream than anything. So, I sadly declare my #1 franchise dead, at least at this location. It was sad and I’m still sad. From managers who won’t even greet you to employees with dirty uniforms (and not a mask or hairnet in sight) this is a place that I will stay clear off from now on. I recommend that you do the same. Totally not recommended.
