Nice restaurant. We came in last minute with 34 of us as tour group. For me and my wife we ordered the mixed vegetables, wanton noodle soup and fried noodle with garlic, onions and capsicum. All tasted delicious. Spend NZ70 for 3 dishes. View all feedback.
What Michelle D doesn't like about Jade Palace:
Absolutely terrible food. Restaurant was dirty, water jugs were filthy. Took forever for wait staff to take our order and food took ages. People walked out waiting. Would never go there again!! View all feedback.
Tasty fresh food with kind efficient service. Good prices too. Peaceful ambiance. Jade Palace will satisfy your Chinese food palate.
Great Chinese food. If you are looking for Chinese food in the area it's a must visit. Food is authentic and fresh. Ambiance is not great but they more than make up for it in their great dishes. Highly recommend.
The food taste great and price is average. Over all you can find some authentic Chinese food in this place. We have came here twice with our stays. I will recommend it to others.
I always hate to write bad reviews but unfortunately this place does not deserve more than 2 stars. It was 5:00 pm and nothing else was open other than this restaurant. We were cold and hungry so we decided to give it a shot. A bus full of tourist arrived at the same time we drove in. We were greeted and served promptly with friendly service, hence the 2 stars, but the food just was not very good. We ordered two dumpling soups, fried rice, fried noodles, shrimp tempura and pork dumplings with a side of chili oil (which they charge $2 for) and a pot of hot tea for 4 people. The noodles we're probably the best dish out of everything we ordered. The broth from the soup dumplings tasted like boiled water. No amount of soy sauce or chili oil could add flavor to it. The fried rice and dumplings were very bland and lacked any real flavor. The shrimp was ok. After $140 bill, I left disappointed. There are other restaurants in this tiny town, plan accordingly and go elsewhere.
We walked in on a whim choosing between this place vs. the one next door which had a view of the lake but we were glad we did because the food here was great! We ordered the dry chicken with dried red chilies (bone-in) and the lamb with ginger and scallion which was melt in your mouth tender and very flavorful! I took off a star for the service, since the wait staff was not very attentive, but this was by far the best tasting food we had in the area.
