There was a time when we visited this restaurant in a week. about 20 years ago. we have recently sunk with friends for dinner. we had heard that it was still th... read more There was a time when we visited this restaurant in a week. about 20 years ago. we have recently sunk with friends for dinner. we had heard that it was still the best in the city. hhhmmm. disappointed to think how the worst are... most dishes were pretty. chic, but frankly little similarity to authentic Thai cuisine. the most basic Thai flavors were used either in minute quantities or not at all....our laab gai, it was not good! it was a strange chicken salad. where were the Thai herbs, fish sauce, chilis etc. the satay was in large pieces like most other ingredients. tl be fair, the duck was crispy, even if the sose blande. the beautiful presentation (fruit and veg carving, beautiful small dishes, individual burners) we enjoyed in the past. they can only assume that they feel that they enjoy European taste. sad, sad, sad. it's easy enough to buy all the ingredients for preparation authentic Thai dishes in the carpenter sky only know why they are not used. looks like it's back in my own kitchen for our Thai food.
