I chose the Cologne Marriott Hotel because it is part of the Marriott group, and I was willing to pay a slightly higher price expecting comfort and good service... read more I chose the Cologne Marriott Hotel because it is part of the Marriott group, and I was willing to pay a slightly higher price expecting comfort and good service. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. At check-in, the staff were unable to clearly explain the parking arrangements. We parked in the hotel car park, which was very narrow and inconvenient, and only discovered the next day that it cost €30 per day — significantly higher than nearby options. When we raised this with the hotel, they said there was nothing they could do. From the following day, we found a much more spacious, convenient, and cheaper car park right next to the hotel. Additionally, the hotel even charged for borrowing an umbrella, which is not something I would expect from a Marriott property. Overall, I would recommend being mindful that the total cost of your stay may be higher than just the room rate.
