We're speechless... it was truly awful. Unfortunately, it fell far short of anything one expects from an Italian restaurant. The waiters were so unfriendly and arrogant – the food was mediocre and the portions were so small, and it lacked all the Italian charm one usually associates with Italian cuisine – sorry, but even L'Osteria is better – such a shame.

Ristorante Arena: I went there for lunch on November 20th, lured by the menu, which I immediately liked during my online search. Since I had some time before my appointment, I decided to go. On the way there, I looked at the existing reviews – some were off-putting, but the food itself quickly dispelled any fears. I was seated alone and inevitably overheard the surrounding tables; they were talking so loudly that I couldn 't escape the cacophony. After half an hour, it was clear why there were some bad reviews: not because of the staff and not because of the food, but because of a segment of the clientele. To my right, there was a constant stream of special requests, and to my left, the same pattern: I always eat it this way, Can 't you do it differently? Swap this, Leave that out, Add something. An endless loop of extra orders that would completely derail any carefully planned dish. It really makes you wonder: What do these people expect from a restaurant? The menu is clear, the dishes are carefully composed, subtly balanced in their basic flavors of sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. That 's precisely what a menu is for. Anyone wanting to completely rebuild their meal should buy the ingredients at the supermarket and cook at home. A kitchen that has to assemble an entire dish from scratch for every table will be slowed down. Of course, a team can accommodate guests, but imagine this constant rebuilding frenzy for a month – it 's unduly taxing for any team. My advice: Look at the menu, order something you rarely cook at home or that requires a special touch – and savor the whole dish. It 's the subtle nuances that make a dish special. That this precision works here is evident even in something as simple as the Salad Mista. The leaves appear vibrant, with a delicate sheen – a sign that they weren 't carelessly tossed into the bowl, but rather prepared beforehand in ice-cold water. This causes the structure to contract, the inherent flavor gains depth, and bitterness recedes. A high-quality, virgin olive oil then binds the individual components together into a calm, rich blend. It is precisely here that the subtle umami effect arises: not a loud flavor enhancer, but a gentle rounding, a soft undertone that supports and deepens the entire complex of flavors. This meticulous attention to such a small component speaks volumes about a restaurant more than any grand dish. Leafy greens are generally sensitive to temperature; the brief chill tightens the cell structure, the surface reflects more light, and the flavors become clearer. Vegetables like bell peppers or onions exhibit a more precise texture after this process, and the balance between sweetness, acidity, and spiciness becomes more pronounced. The classic practice is around twenty to thirty seconds – sufficient for the effect without overstimulating the structure. Overall, the Mista demonstrates the meticulous craftsmanship evident even in the smallest details. Those who recognize this understand why the essentials here are so compelling. Conclusion: A lunch that shines through clarity, craftsmanship, and fine-tuning – provided you let the kitchen do what it does best. The effect: focused, clear, authentic, with quiet depth. Insight of the day: Greatness is revealed in the details.

Ristorante Arena – Aachener Straße, Cologne Last night I dined at Ristorante Arena with business colleagues, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The Vitello Tonnato was an excellent starter, perfectly seasoned. For my main course, I had the Cannelloni filled with ricotta, beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The meal was accompanied by a very good Lugana, which complemented the menu perfectly. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The ambiance is very appealing – like a small, elegant Italian restaurant in the heart of Cologne, cozy and authentic. A restaurant where you immediately feel at ease and which is ideally suited for both business lunches and private dinners. We will definitely be back.

For me, the best pizza in Cologne. It simply tastes like Italian craftsmanship and ingredients. Always a treat. : Best regards. The price is more than reasonable for the quality. Okay :
