Our party of four had a very enjoyable experience. Great variety of choices on the menu from burgers to entrees. Our steaks and coconut shrimp dishes were delicious. Live music by Wayne James was perfect. We will be back!! View all feedback.
What OpenTable Diner doesn't like about Argyles:
We were one of only two tables that evening. The food was decent, but not exceptional. The desserts were disappointingly small and lacked flavor. On the positive side, our waitress was very friendly. However, it's unlikely that we'll return. View all feedback.
Service was very slow tonight. And we were seated next to a large, and loud, family. We have been here a number of times in the past, always happy with the meal. This time was a disappointment.
It took an hour from the time of our reservation to getting bread on our table, it took 30 minutes before we can get our table. Another group of 8 who also had a reservation had to wait as long. I don’t this this restaurant takes the open table reservations to heart. The escargot was very good as well as the onion soup, crab cakes not as much
Read reviews of Argyle's and decided to give it a go so glad we did. Party of four two teens and two adults, Thursday evening. Live music, classic rock/R B by Greg Shelton it was lovely and enhanced our dining experience greatly. Our server, Brian, was affable, enthusiastic and cool all at the same time and made great recommendations. We had the antelope, the duck and the mahimahi though I wanted it all, everything sounded so great on the menu. Appetizers were the fresh seafood corn chowder (not the thick mess of cream at most places) and the most fresh tomato salad caprese on toasted bruschetta (cooked or uncooked) that I have ever had. This is a farm to table restaurant and it shows. The mahimahi was caught that afternoon and tasted like it. The cocktail and wine list was expansive yet not pretentious. There is outdoor seating; we sat indoors, even though the weather was nice, so we could hear the live music. If you are staying in Southern Shores or Kitty Hawk, this is about the finest dining you can experience in a friendly, eclectic setting. Our new favorite and we will return!
Obviously, I made a reservation and when I walked in was told they had a laugh because they thought it was a joke that there would be a party of one. That started everything off wrong. I went there specifically for the fried green tomatoes only to find out that they didn't have them. The server did not come back on a regular basis and I had to ask for more to drink and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. I did not enjoy the experience there at all and I would never return.
We were very pleased that we were seated immediately on a Saturday evening. We were served promptly and the service was great. Food was fantastic, I had the Fish Taco bowl and the Mahi was cooked to perfection. It was a great combination of fish, tasty slaw and wild rice. Awesome! Next time we come back to the Outer Banks we will be dining at Argyles!
