What User doesn't like about Two Goblets Restaurant:
We went for lunch and as soon as we stepped in, noticed there was no other patron in sight. It was just before 2 p.m. so presumably, it was past the lunch-time scene. No attempt had been made to "tidy up" the offerings and the trays holding the buffet items looked "messy."We ended up not eating there as the first impression did not sit well with us. Went for dinner. Great schnitzel, perfect portions. Mashed potatoes were great, sauerkraut was cooked deliciously, not just served straight from a jar. Holstein schnitzel was generous on the caviar, and the breaded variety of schnitzel was juicy and tender. Perogies weren't as impressive, but not bad at all. Atmosphere is not too fancy, but just classy enough for a date. Place is clean, quiet, and the service is warm. Happy to have found this place, would go back again. Dinner entrees are around ~23, and worth it.
The food at this restaurant is fantastic! It is my absolute favorite place for schnitzel in KWC. The schnitzels are always made fresh to order. The homemade soups at the salad bar are great, especially the Chorba. I love the tomato and cucumber salad. The addition of edam cheese is a delightful touch, whether it's served as a breaded cheese appetizer or inside a Tyrolian schnitzel. I seriously can't get enough of this place and could eat here every day.
I would give this restaurant a solid 4 stars! The location is great, just off King Street with a large window that lets in natural light, making the dining area feel open. I arrived at noon and was seated right away, but keep in mind that the restaurant can only seat a maximum of 30 people, so it's best to make reservations if you plan on going with a group. Many people were turned away as the restaurant fills up quickly. The service was quick and attentive, with staff constantly refilling water and clearing plates. The food selection may be limited, but it's all about quality over quantity. I'm not an expert on schnitzel, but the food was delicious. The lunch buffet included soup, salad, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, perogies, chicken schnitzel, Vienna schnitzel, farmer's sausage, sour cream, and mushroom gravy - all prepared in-house and constantly replenished. The chicken schnitzel was particularly enjoyable, with a perfect seasoning, crunchy panko coating, and moist center. The meal was finished off with rolls and a chocolate fudge cake, accompanied by freshly ground coffee. I will definitely be returning, although the only downside is that there is no on-site parking, only street parking or paid lots.
A small family run restaurant serving excellent schnitzel dinners. I would recommend reservations for this popular hidden gem.
We had reservations, arrived a bit early but still after opening. The woman who greeted us was brusque. The man who came to take our order seemed uncomfortable. When we asked for lemon in our water he came back from the kitchen with water but no lemon. "We have only two lemons and some customers like it with their schnitzel", he said. I wonder what makes customers not here yet more important than ones with bums already in chairs. We ordered the Schnitzel with Perogies, to which we added a side of mushroom gravy and I added sauerkraut as well. The gravy, for $3.00, tasted canned and the sauerkraut was so sweetened I could not eat it. The perogies were supposed to come with bacon and onions, but here, too, they had been sweetened so much that I took them off the perogies, which were so-so. The Hungarian beef soup from the salad bar was OK but nothing special. The best part of the meal was the schnitzel. That, at least, was excellent. The service was rescued somewhat when a young server came in later and took over. She was friendly, but by then we were almost finished. At $28.00 for my meal this was way too expensive. Had our experience been more positive and the food better I might not have thought so.Our bill was over $60.00 without alcohol, coffee or dessert.
