This has been our family's first choice for Japanese for years now. I have travelled the world to great sushi destinations and Ainoya can hold its own for freshness, taste and service. What Vance Monahan doesn't like about Ainoya Restaurant:
On the day we visited, this place was good, no more, no less. The food was actually great, but there was a lack of energy that evening. A little more attentiveness next time, please. View all feedback.
There are so many delicious things on the menu that it is hard to narrow down what to order. Maybe best to go in groups so you can order many more dishes. The food is so fresh and cooked (or uncooked!!) perfectly. Gorgeous Japanese flavours! It's been an institution in Kirribilli for years. Highly recommend!
The food was delicious with a very extensive menu. The sashimi was so fresh. Service was also very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Over the years Ainoya has served delicious food with a menu that provides choices for all tastes. Last night was no exception. Four diners, every dish was immaculate in appearance and taste,The service is professional, courteous and knowledgeable yet friendly. The wine list is good, sake menu great. Reasonable BYO option. Book a sunken table (suits 4 pax).My favourite dishes? Try the very tender Gyu Tataki (beef carpaccio) with delicious sauce) Grilled duck breast (I ask for medium rare) plus everything else on offer.Ainoya also has a lovely function room which we have booked on 3 occasions.
Try the unagi it's really good. The sushi is fresh, made by order directly. the price is quite a bit over pricey.
