Description

Welcome to The Jacobs Well, Honley Since 1892, The Jacobs Well has been a cherished public house steeped in history and character. Retaining its period charm, the building combines traditional features like a cosy open fire in the main bar and beautiful wooden beams in the restaurant with modern touches, including a stylish wooden-fronted gin bar. Today, Amanda, who took over the pub in 2018 alongside her late husband Richard—a highly trained chef and the original visionary behind the venture—continues to lead The Jacobs Well with passion. Their connection to the place is deep, having celebrated their wedding reception right here in 2019. The Jacobs Well offers a welcoming atmosphere whether you’re stopping by for a refreshing drink, a delicious meal, or taking away one of their freshly prepared dishes. The recently refurbished tiered beer garden, complete with an outside bar, is perfect for relaxing with friends while soaking up the stunning views across the valley towards Castle Hill. Quality food is at the heart of The Jacobs Well experience. Local sourcing and fresh preparation mean every dish is made to order, and the talented kitchen team is happy to accommodate allergies or special dietary needs with prior notice. The pub's warm and friendly spirit extends to dog owners—well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar area. Beer lovers will appreciate the care taken over ales and beers, with Thwaites and Wainwrights on tap alongside a selection of cask ales. For those who prefer wine or gin, the extensive wine list and wide variety of gins offer plenty of choice. Every weekend brings new specials to discover, and for groups, the Peacock Room offers a unique and cosy space for up to 20 people. This transformed area maintains an outdoor feel while providing shelter, warmth from a log-burning stove, and heaters for comfort year-round—ideal for intimate gatherings and celebrations alike. With a lively calendar of events and a warm community atmosphere, The Jacobs Well invites you to book a table and treat yourself to a memorable visit. Whether a quick drink, a leisurely meal, or a festive occasion, you’ll find a friendly welcome waiting here in Honley.

Chose the early bird menu and only managed 2 courses very satisfying and tasty. The bread was swapped without fuss for a unseeded loaf, due to my allergies. We didn't book, it was Wednesday at 4pm.. so thought it would be ok, they kindly got us the last table in the bar area. So advisable to pre-book!
