Whitley's Garden Centre is a popular spot, especially during the festive season, attracting visitors for both its charming decorations and café offerings. The café experience, however, has been a mixed bag. While the afternoon tea received rave reviews for its fresh sandwiches and friendly service, many patrons reported issues with disorganization, rude staff, and disappointing food quality including lukewarm breakfasts and poor coffee. Price points have also raised eyebrows, leaving some diners feeling underwhelmed. Despite these inconsistencies, generous portions and helpful staff have won over many, ensuring that Whitley's remains a popular choice for special occasions.

We went with a large group for Afternoon Tea. Not something we would normally do but we really enjoyed it. Too much to eat there and then so took the surplus home in the boxes provided. Staff very friendly and helpful View all feedback.
What 913libbyw dislikes about Cafe Whiteleys:
Disappointing overall. Found table sticky! and then returned to counter to order and pay. There was a queue as drinks were served as you paid, prep of drinks was slow. I had the prawn mayo sandwich, which was particularly cold and watery, suggesting prawns had only just thawed served in soft white sliced bread. My partner asked for chicken and bacon in brown, but that came in white. As we had a long wait before they... View all feedback.
We had a deluxe afternoon tee voucher for christmas. a few weeks ago decided to make whiteleys a visit and use the voucher. we have pre-ordered that we had one. at the arrival we were asked what 2 sandwiches we would like, but we were under the impression that we had chosen 2 sandwiches each, we were not only allowed to choose one. we had the afternoon on many places with a selection of 4-5 different sandwich fillings. for a luxurious afternoon tee in whiteleys they can only choose 2 fillings, we would not call this deluxe. a friend told me when she had the deluxe she was offered with chips against price, that was not offered to us. one of our choices was prawn, well that was the most basic garnish sandwich we ever had only garne in brot with a prawn sauce in a paper container. again very disappointed. the cakes etc. were ok, the little dessert was very nice, but the scone was extremely dry. they receive a small teekanne and if they want to refill, the employees must sign their reception so that they are not able to have more tee without paying for it. again to other places they have limited tee. we got a tee at the place of order and we had done this before we got our food. we wouldn't go back to whiteleys for the afternoon, as we felt, was probably the least favorite of our afternoon experiences.
Beautiful place and we have been coming for years, but really disappointed about the last visit to the breakfast. I think as they let it sit on the side while they put the witness on the plate when it comes to them, it is best warm. I avoid the cooked breakfast from this ground today and ordered a roasted johannisbeer t-cake and that came roasted, but shallow cold, as not sure how long it had been sitting on the table. my partner got an breakfast and it was warm and the egg was hard. not worth the money. it is so a shame that it is a nice place, but they need to work the system a little better
We visited Whitley's Garden Centre today mainly to have afternoon tea but also to buy some shrubs. Andrew who worked in the garden centre was really helpful. He advised us as to which plants and compost would be suitable and also took it all to...the car for me. We'd booked the Classic Afternoon Tea for my friend's special birthday treat. It was super duper!! The sandwiches were lovely and fresh, as were the scones served with clotted cream and jam. The additional cakes and home made biscuits were lovely too. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We were given little boxes to take anything we couldn't manage to eat home with us. It was our first visit to Whitley's and it certainly won't be our last. Thank you so much, you deserve credit where credit is due
I recently dined at Mirfield Garden Centre with friends for lunch and was quite disappointed with the menu. It was not as good as my previous visit. The menu looked more like something you would find at a pub, with no vegetables included in the main dishes. In the past, they had quiches, pies, and delicious vegetables available. I ended up choosing a wrap, which was decent but not the best option. I will be looking for other places to have lunch in the future.
We stopped in for lunch and ordered the ham salad sandwich platter and the chicken tikka sandwich platter, both with chips. Unfortunately, when we arrived, several empty tables had not been wiped down. The food itself was disappointing - the chips were overcooked and there were only a few on the plate. The sandwiches were more like half sandwiches with minimal filling - one slice of ham in mine and just a few pieces of chicken tikka in my partner's. For the price of around £8, we expected more. Overall, the food was very average and not worth the cost. It's best to avoid this restaurant.
