Good coffee and reasonable food but no smiles from anyone working there. When I politely asked for a small amount of extra yogurt for dry pancakes, the owner (?) looked notably pissed off and while he did oblige, not a word was said and I was made to feel uncomfortable for a reasonable request. As someone who has worked in hospitality, I know it's not hard to be courteous to customers. The cafe wasn't busy and I wasn't rude in how I spoke to him so who knows why he was so put out. Perhaps the plating of the pancakes needs reviewing but he disagrees? A shame, as the cafe is in a great spot on the water and my parents and I had a good experience otherwise.
Still a reliable coffee/espresso place, particularly on Monday mornings when most cafes on the Kingston foreshore strip are closed. The food is simple, well prepared. The Shakshuka and breakfast acceptable although the pita bread somewhat burnt. Eggs were fine, coffee was good. And they had the heater on. Can't ask for more from a small and popular coffee outlet!
Quiet & welcoming little nook. Choice of seating = outside table & chairs (I think there are heaters outside), inside bar table type settings with stools, and 2 giant leather Chesterfield lounges which is where I got nice & comfy. I'm not sure what coffee bean they use but my flat white was delicious. The coffee comes in big mugs sans handles (which my hands like the feel of in winter) and kitschy spoons from different geographies like you used to see in a grandparent's kitchen (today's was Gundagai!) (it's the small things). I ordered the toasted cheese & vegemite sanger - cut into triangles - and my inner child felt content. Friendly staff and great playlist in the background. I'm already looking forward to returning. :)
So refreshing to see somewhere in Canberra that showcasing the simple pleasures of life. Magnificent coffee and loved the yoghurt and granola parfait. Thanks guys, Ill definitely be back for more!
