We ordered the Burrito Bowl and their other goodness like we have many times before... but this time they had cauliflower rice!! The amount of varied colorful veggies in our dinner was amazing (and the guacamole, I mean seriously
I have been following a vegan diet for 15 years and was a vegetarian for 25 years before that. I have not consumed beef in over 45 years. I ordered a sofrito burrito and ate a few bites while driving in a hurry. I soon realized there were chunks of something with an unfamiliar texture and, unfortunately, I swallowed before realizing it may have been steak. I immediately pulled over, called the restaurant, and they confirmed the mistake - they had thought I ordered a steak burrito instead of a sofrito one. While some may not understand the severity of the situation, as someone who follows a plant-based diet, I was deeply upset by the incident. They offered me a gift card as compensation, but I have not returned to the restaurant since this incident, which happened almost 10 years ago.
In the 1990s, Chipotle was one of the first chain restaurants to cater to vegetarian customers. Their website features a helpful nutrition calculator that allows you to customize a meal based on your preferences, including ingredients and calorie count. Chipotle is committed to using real, local, and organic ingredients, and now also focuses on meeting the needs of vegan customers. They offer a variety of vegan options such as Salad, Burritos, Burrito Bowls, and Tacos. Unfortunately, their new Quesadillas do not have a vegan cheese option. The Veggies and Sofritas (tofu-based meat substitute) are both vegan filling options with great texture. Chipotle also offers vegan beans, rice, guacamole, and various salsa choices. You can customize your meal with options like Romaine lettuce and different salsas. It's important to avoid meats, cheeses, queso blanco, and sour cream if you're vegan. Recently, I visited Chipotle's location in Kingston and enjoyed a quick and delicious burrito. They operate cafeteria-style, where you can customize your meal, pay at the register, and dine in or take out. My two vegan burritos cost around $9 and $11 each, with the second one including guacamole as an additional cost. Chipotle offers a tasty option for vegan Mexican food made with whole-food ingredients.
