Juniper Cafe - Kingston
Juniper Cafe
Description
Located in the Tett Centre, this restaurant offers locally sourced ingredients, great pastries, and delicious sandwiches. The breakfast sandwich is a standout, but those needing gluten-free options won't be disappointed. Reasonably priced, it also offers heavenly cream tea and amazing cookies. While the food is slightly expensive, the baked goods are affordable and generous. The staff is friendly and service is top-notch. Seating is limited, but the cafe has a lovely patio by the water. With fresh and beautifully presented dishes, this charming spot is perfect for a quick bite or a relaxing meal in downtown Kingston.

EThe juniper is Kingston's best hidden gem. Nestled into the Tett Centre's basement level, it sits overhanging Lake Ontario. There are few restaurants and bars I haven't eaten or worked within in Kingston, so you can believe me when I tell you this little place has the best patio views, hands down. There are many great patios in Kingston, but none with these views. Oh, the food! The Juniper (also Epicurious Catering) is a farm to fork establishment with veggies, meats, cheeses, brews and wines from neighbouring local regions. The freshness and fun is highlighted by their creative culinary flair. To top it off, the Juniper is nostalgic and beautifully retro styled. With exposed limestone walls and large windows, it feels homey with a nod to the past with vintage lighting and mid century decor. I highly recommend the bruschetta, charcuterie boards, soup of the day, and you MUST try the deserts! YUM!

I've been a few times. Once in the winter for tea and a cookie to work quietly. It was fantastic. I've gotten treats for here that are to die for. I was really excited to go back, but had a very lack lustre experience. The server did not disclose that my beer in a bottle was 660ml, which is a good amount for one person, and in general, was not very helpful and came off as standoffish. They also did not offer to help by providing a tray, so I was stuck carrying three things awkwardly. The treats are good, but the staff at the cash needs to be either better informed of their inventory and better trained in customer service. Will likely go back because it has been good before, but hopefully there will be some additional training between now and then.
The cafe experience. I thought the food was spectacular because it was homemade and it just tasted like normal good food. The service is wonderful because...
