Reviews - Heck's
Reviews summary
Heck's, a quaint townie bar known for its burgers and friendly atmosphere, faces a dichotomy of experiences. While diners praise the delicious burgers and standout fish fry, some lament overcooked dishes and worn decor, particularly the shabby carpet near the bar. Though service can be inconsistent, the attentive owner often steps in to enhance the experience. Customers enjoy the retro vibe and reasonable prices, making it a charming spot for casual dining. With a selection of Michigan craft beers, Heck's remains a beloved destination, but improvements in food quality and decor could elevate it further.

The atmosphere at Heck’s is as enjoyable as ever, capturing the classic HuCo bar vibe. However, I wasn’t a fan of the Heckleburger this time around. The service took a bit longer than I would have preferred, but the owner noticed and personally stepped in. I usually order from Heck’s once or twice a year without any issues, and everything has always been great in the past. This time, though, my burger was dripping wi... View all feedback.
What Joanne Champagne dislikes about Heck's:
I wish I could rate this place higher. It definitely needs some major improvements. The carpet in front of the bar is worn out and shredded. Our food was overcooked, resulting in a dry, tough meal that was hard to enjoy. The owner was friendly and chatty, which was a plus. Prices are reasonable. I've heard great things about their burgers and fish dinners, but unfortunately, I didn't try them this time. That was my m... View all feedback.

We used to love going there for a burger and beer. After not being there for a couple years we stopped to grab a bite to eat. The burgers were dry and flavorless and our waitress was ok at best. Hopefully it was an off day, but I can guarantee it will be awhile before we go again.
Food to be expected at a bar. Mostly fried and quite tasty. Fairly quick to get your food and drinks and well priced. Nothing fancy, just down for a good meal and easy going staff. Rob is a hardworking owner and appreciates the local support.
We had Waleye baskets and they were very very good. The Jack and Cokes were very good too. Ha Ha
This place looks like a dive from the outside, and maybe it is. But it was very clean (the ceiling fans are even clean) and the burgers were fantastic. Nothing fancy, just good affordable food that you can tell was made by someone who actually cares. And they have a great selection of Michigan craft beer ! Don't think anywhere else in the area is gonna beat this place for me.

This time, though, my burger was dripping with too much grease, and I could only eat half, leaving the rest on the table. The parchment paper was completely soaked, and it didn’t resemble any of the photos shared by other reviewers.
This is a traditional bar that I absolutely adore. The heck burger is incredible! This place is truly wonderful.
The burgers and fries were delicious, and the onion rings were amazing. The staff was extremely friendly.

Terrific experience, great food and atmosphere. If you're in the area definitely worth the stop.
I wish I could give a better evaluation of this restaurant. The decor needs serious upgrades, with the carpet near the bar looking worn out. Our food was overcooked, making it dry, tough, and hard to eat. The owner was friendly and accommodating, and the prices were reasonable. I've heard great things about their burgers and seafood, but unfortunately, I didn't try them this time. My mistake.
The atmosphere at this Huco bar is still enjoyable. However, I was disappointed with the Heckleburger during my recent visit. The service was somewhat sluggish, but the owner intervened to address the issue. I've ordered Heckleburgers at least once or twice a year without any complaints until now. Previously, my experiences were positive, but this time there was an excess of fat in the burger, which led me to only eat half and leave the remainder on the table. Additionally, the parchment papers were soggy, and the presentation didn't align with the images shared by other reviewers.
