Reviews - Mapas
Reviews summary
Mapas restaurant offers a mixed dining experience, with excellent service but disappointing food quality. The staff are praised for being attentive and friendly, setting a pleasant atmosphere. However, there were various complaints about the slow service, limited menu options, and unsatisfactory food quality. Some diners were impressed by the presentation and taste of the dishes, while others found them lacking in flavor and quality. Overall, Mapas is recommended for its ambiance, but mixed reviews on food quality and service suggest inconsistency in the dining experience.

Save bet on a Saturday night. Good food, great service and some live music. Mapas is prob one of the best restaurants in Dalkey/Killiney. Esp since they have a new chef! Recommended View all feedback.
What EmmaG dislikes about Mapas:
The decor, lighting and atmosphere in the room is lovely. Food and service also good. The open kitchen meant the smells of cooking where quite strong. But overall, impressed with Mapas. View all feedback.

Nice and quiet place, the food is really good and portions are huge. Waitresses are very thoughtful and smiling.
The food was absolutely delicios! Service was Amazing. Thank you Thomas and Sara for making our celebration so special! I highly recommend visiting!
Very nice cozy atmosphere and the chef is great. Food came out quickly. Some of the younger waiters are rude with no manners. If staying in the hotel this place is still a great place.
Food was excelent and ambiance also very nice, well done to kitchen staff. Thomas service was excelent, I will come back for sure!

We had an incredible evening celebrating my aunt's 70th birthday at Mapas. The manager, Sara, and her entire team were exceptionally accommodating, handling every request with ease despite our large group. The service, food, and drinks were all outstanding. A talented musician performed that night, which truly enhanced the atmosphere and overall experience. My family had a wonderful time and we wholeheartedly recommend this venue, along with its excellent food and service, to everyone.
I enjoyed an exceptional dinner at Mapas last night. What stands out to me about dining here is the quality of the food, the presentation, and the attentive staff. The new chef brings exciting, innovative flavor combinations to the menu, clearly showing a genuine passion for his craft. Having visited several times, I have consistently been impressed by the high standards of both the food and the service. The extensive menu always offers something new to discover. I highly recommend a visit—you won’t be disappointed.
The staff was incredibly friendly, especially our waitress—she was blonde, but unfortunately, we didn’t catch her name as she’s leaving the job to focus on college. She was very caring and genuine with us. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and generously portioned. I highly recommend the cod with mashed potatoes; the steak was also great, served with amazing fries. Personally, I didn’t enjoy the onion soup. The desserts were outstanding. I’ve visited a few times while staying at the hotel, but this was the first time I came just for the restaurant because of the food. If you have a special occasion, this is a perfect place to celebrate. The atmosphere is lovely—quiet and relaxing—and I also really liked the decor. Thank you for the wonderful experience; I hope you attract many new customers!

I want to start by saying the staff were amazing and the waiter we had (American guy) very attentive and professional. Unfortunately the kitchen was not up to much. They were extremely slow, and it took an hour between being served drinks, to the food arriving. I assumed when you pay €40 for a steak dish, the quality would be at least acceptable. The 12oz grilled steak was not as advertised. It was the size of a pork chop and had clearly been pan fried. The beef dripping chips were like skinny Fries bathed in oil. It was very dissapointing. Not much choice for desert. My partner could not eat her parfait as she said it was disgusting. Also I had a whiskey that was advertised as €11 per shot, and when the bill arrived it was listed as €18. I couldn't be bothered disputing this, and the waiter was extremely nice so I paid and left. If you want steak, go elsewhere. The worst steak I've ever had and extremely over priced. This is just the experience I had.
As always good food, great service and lovely, relaxed atmosphere which is hard to find in Dalkey ...

Great new menu, lovely atmosphere and spot on service. One of the easiest best places for a nice dinner in and around Dalkey... we'll be back

The menu is small but great at the same time. Cheap, but worth it, as service is amazing. I wanted a cosier table.
Good food overall, but was disappointed in my dish and the lack of variety-most green in a chicken salad, limited salad dressing. Customer service was great, and the atmosphere was beautiful
I really wanted this to be a good experience, because Fitzpatricks Hotel is local for me and a convenient place to bring guests. However, the Kovid effect (as I call it) is very much in evidence. A lack of polishing in the staff, although... they were very polite and polite. Menu elements confused, and the apology was almost a reflection. Waiting for our drinks was much longer than suitable for two glasses of wine while we went through the menu. The menu was spicy. There were no deals from Nibbles to the time we waited for our food. The content was delicious, full appreciation for the cook. But taking into account the drilling setting and the zero pages, this menu is cut directly to the basics. No pages offered as supplements. No wine list offered. Tea or coffee was the extent of apres meal drinks. Come, Fitzpatricks: at 50 € per person for 3 courses this was not a budget meal! It could have been more. Our party of two would have paid for extras, but none were on offer. When a large group of loud diners arrived, we offer an annoying retreat to what we thought would be the rest of the hotel lounge only to have interrupted our conversation by the racket of two young people who hunt around the lounge furniture. A manager spoke to the parents we were very grateful for, but five minutes later, the hunting game continued while the parents had taken their way to the bar. Only experienced employees can treat these situations that I call it "Covid Effect". There was a clear lack of experienced management in participating. What a shame. This is a wonderful environment and deserves better.
