We visited last week, having dined there three years ago when it was one of the best restaurants we had been to. Unfortunately, this time our experience was not as great. The host at the door appeared disheveled, as if he had just rolled out of bed. Both of us ordered filets, and they were both overcooked. We chose to eat at Flying Fish Cafe based on the ratings from a travel web site, but we were disappointed with the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. We have dined at most other restaurants listed in the top 5 in the Outer Banks reviews, and the Flying Fish Cafe unfortunately is not in the same league.
