Reviews summary

The Trading Post offers a mixed dining experience, garnering both praise and criticism. While many patrons appreciate the spacious, clean venue and attentive staff, concerns arise regarding the quality of the carvery. Diners report overcooked potatoes, tough meats, and inconsistent service, with some feeling unwelcome. However, others commend the variety of well-prepared meals and the efficient atmosphere, especially during busy evenings. The pricing, particularly for drinks, raises eyebrows, but many conclude that eating at the Trading Post can still deliver satisfying moments, highlighting the importance of timing and preparation for a great meal. Overall, it remains a venue worth considering.

Was Anonym at Trading Post a mag?

It was very easy to book a table online, and as soon as we arrived, we were promptly seated at our table. We were a family of five celebrating a special occasion, and everything we ordered from the menu was available with quick service. The staff at the bar and our servers were polite, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal. Overall, we had a great experience! View all feedback.

What HouseofHippo dislikes about Trading Post:

Very poor selection of desserts. Staff not particularly welcoming and weren't made aware on booking that there was a quiz on. Couldn't have the conversation we'd hoped for. View all feedback.

I always choose this restaurant for large family gatherings because the carvery is top-notch and the service is friendly. I have never been disappointed.

It was my birthday on a busy Sunday at this restaurant. It was bustling, likely due to it being the end of the month, but all the staff remained composed, including the lone man carving the meat. He could have used some assistance at the counter. Despite the long wait in line, the food was delicious and we didn't feel rushed at all.

We were waiting over an hour for our food and when we asked how long we were told they hadn’t got 2 of the meal orders. They did give us complimentary desert but it was overall not a great visit.

Having been to the Trading Post many times before I was looking forward to my visit. Sadly I was disappointed, the carvery was awful, the beef I could only describe as slimey, it was in edible, the potatoes were black and the gravy brown water. Such a shame as it usually very tasty

This charming pub offers a variety of delicious meals. The staff provides great service, although I must mention that during my second visit, there was very little meat left on the carvery station. The scraps left were served without any fresh meat being replenished during our visit. Considering it was midday, one would expect a continuous supply of meat to ensure customers receive high-quality food.

We had booked a table to celebrate our 42nd valentines day. Whilst stood at the booking table a bearded man shouted over to say he didn't have any room. I said we had booked a table. The carvery was very poor quality. The food was warm and the roast potatoes over cooked and burnt. We did not feel welcomed.

Disappointing, took a friend for a birthday treat, we had the carvery, the beef was so tough couldn’t cut with knife, took it back gave us some more beef but it was tough again took it back gave us some turkey/chicken. Was going to have a dessert but decided not to. Also don’t ask when paying if you would like to leave a tip before your meal ,and why pay more at weekends for carvery, for the same meal, not like it used to be there. Disappointing.

We waited 1 and a half hours for our food which then did not come out together. This is really unusual for the trading post as the service is normally quite god.

Popped in for a carvery. Had already booked they couldn’t find the booking but quickly found us a table and assisted in placing the wheelchair user. Disabled toilet was abit untidy but useable. The carvery was lovely young chef was chatty and helpful. Meat was just right with huge Yorkies. Really enjoyed the meal.

Is shown what it was the ultimate cattle burger I treated my 11 year old son and although the menu is great, they either pay for an adult meal or one for a smaller child and the prices are not exactly cheap (not expensive for an adult.) my son sacrificed for a smaller child meal so that he could end up in one of the adult desserts. personal facilities, where good.

Went early evening on a Friday and it was very busy, would recommend booking a table. Menu seemed decent, with a good range of choices to suit all, all the typical food you would expect. However, at £7.99 I went for the standard plate carvery. You get a Yorkshire pudding, 3 slices of meat (choice of turkey, beef or gammon on my night), and ask the vegetables and potato's you can eat, plus you can go back for more veg/spuds. All in all one of the better carverys I have had.

Beautiful daytime carvery today, not too busy around 12.30, but around 1.15 was quite full, more popular place carvery is the choice of s/m/l, £6.45, £8.54, £10.45, mon sat, more £2 on a Sunday, both the truthahn the bark were really well cooked, nice delicate, beautiful house made yorkshires, very large. they also have a menu with a lot of dressed up, but we did not try anything, personal was very friendly, pub was very clean through, I had a bit of a shock at £5.30 for a prise of hobgoblin but.

We bought my mother to eat. all our meals were excellent. I am vegetarian and I had the cauliflower wings super salat. it was nice. so delicious. my mother had sampi what my mother said was very nice and she likes the fact that she was getting broth butter with him. my partner had the carvery that was excellent. all the plates were completely deleted, which is always a good sign. the employees were all very friendly and hard working cleaning and cleaning tables. beautiful place beautiful atmosphere. all in all a very pleasant lunch and we would return in spite of it.

Lovely place for a carvery. You can choose between a small, medium and large plate of food. Food was delicious. Reasonably priced too. Please be aware between 12pm and 3pm is very busy on Sundays. We waited 40 minutes for a table. In future I'll book in advance.
