Cool little bar in downtown area. Good old school place with good cold beer on tap. Thought it would be touristy given proximity to cruise ships but a legit old bar. View all feedback.
What Jack P doesn't like about The Potlatch:
I was searching for a hidden gem in a tourist hotspot, and I found just that at this restaurant. The atmosphere was filled with local fishermen and residents engaging in casual conversations, addressing each other by their first names. The topic of discussion at the moment was homemade bread. This restaurant is a fantastic hidden gem right by the water in Ketchikan. It feels just like being back home.
A charming waterfront bar with cold beer and shots, a friendly crowd, and a laid-back atmosphere. The ideal spot for enjoying a drink with great company.
Beer, served cold. Often great live music from the Potlatch Band. Food, not so much. Lots of 'local color '. I love it.
Love the bar. Always amazing service. Bad bottle of Patron last time maybe? Still 5 stars
The Potlatch Bar is exactly what it is. It's a dive bar. There's no food service so you can order a pizza, or, as we did earlier today, bring your own sandwiches for a lunchtime treat. When I lived in Ketchikan you could still smoke at the Potlatch, so I tended to only wind up there if I was already tipsy enough to not care how my hair smelled the next day. Also, tipsy enough for karaoke. Because there's karaoke at night on the weekend! and it's fun, and you can sing Miranda Lambert or the Pixies, you can be a seasonal or a local it's all good. What I didn't realize when I was a local, is what a nice place it is to get a lunch time beer. The bartender is one of the best- he understands how much interaction clients need, is happy to dip into conversation, happy to zone out, happy to tell you ghost stories about the establishment. If that sounds good to you, then have at!
