Fish Tacos are BOMB. I have one of every halibut and salmon. Tacos do not fall apart, and the shrimp is on top. The fish was juicy and fresh. The frits were very good, beautiful and crispy outside and juicy inside, went super with accompanying sauces! Also got smoked salmon chowder, which was very hearty. Perfectly seasoned, nothing needed! And of course the service, the people there are super friendly and helpful! H... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Alaska Fish House:
Ok, I am biased as I have had my fair share of fish tacos and really good ones. Some really great ones here in Alaska. Let's start with the hard taco shell... probably premade, just ok and costly at $20 for two. Follow that with small pieces of fish (Luke warm) and smothered with sauces. These are just just OK but not the quality of real fish tacos. Rubio's down in southern California does a better job. The seasoned... View all feedback.
Very awesome food!!! We ordered the salmon chowder... so good! The salmon corn bread... amazing! 2 piece cod 2 piece salmon Crispy fries! $45 for everything! Decent price. Check it out, if you cruise in!
Had fish tacos, a salmon one and a halibut one. Very good, tangy coleslaw. The views are great on a cold alaska day.
The Alaska Fish House is a home staple to the town of Ketchikan. Fish is fresh and customer service is great. You order first and then seat yourselves in the back where there is plenty of seating for any group size with a view of the water. My team ordered from across the board the sampler, smoked salmon chowder, rice bowl and halibut tacos. While the fish was fresh, I think everyone thought it was lacking. The salmon chowder was pretty bland but appreciated the fresh herbs! Gotta love dill! The tacos had hard cold shells with little fish you're much better off getting fish and chips for the price. If you don't live on the coast and get fresh seafood meals on the regular, you'll prolly rate much higher.
I recently dined at Alaska Fish House and had a mixed experience. The customer service was excellent--staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt welcome throughout our visit. It's clear that the team cares about providing a positive experience for their customers. As for the food, it was fresh, which is always a plus. However, the taste was just average. While I appreciate the freshness, I expected a bit more in terms of flavor and creativity, especially given the reputation of the place. Additionally, I found the pricing to be a bit on the higher side for what was offered. While I understand that fresh seafood can come at a premium, I felt that the overall value could have been better. Overall, Alaska Fish House is a decent place to eat, especially if you're looking for fresh seafood and great customer service. However, there's room for improvement in terms of flavor and pricing.
The honest truth ...Be prepared for long lines at peak times and possibly not having a seat. If there is one complaint, it's not enough seating area to accommodate the long lines. When it rains drizzles everyone wants to eat inside. There has to be a better ordering to seating process. We almost received our chowder with not having a table. Now who wants to eat a chowder standing up or cold??? And if we received the Dungeness crab without a table I would have requested it sent back to the kitchen! We did arrive with the cruise ship so lots of people in town. And when the show next door ends, lots of people want to try Alaska Fish House. Food: delicious. Dungeness crab was fresh and succulent. Pairs perfectly with the butter. We also ordered the trio fish a chips. Cod was the favorite, then salmon and halibut last (a little drier than others I have had) also tried the smoked salmon chowder which was good. Again food was great, service was friendly but seating is a problem! 4 stars for having to worry about not getting a table seat before food arrives.
