Beter Than Most TexMex. Though the place is a takeoff of Pontchos, it's far better. The shrimp tacos and guacamole rule... service very good and the food is very tasty and reasonably priced... I like that the buffet is not an open serve-yourself-place where people slop everything on the plate and kids stick their fingers and hands in it... Way better organized than Pontchos that use to be on Vets Blvd in Metairie, La View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about La Azteca:
Literally 1hr wait sitting down. It was only 4 us and 1 other guy that was sitting there on the corner. Food was not so great. They had only 1 lady working there as well receiving calls, being a waitress ,etc. View all feedback.

Great authentic Mexican. Language barrier presented difficulty as the waitress didn't really understand English. Food was good though.
We had the mojarra platter and coconut shrimp sopa. So good. Nice people too.
Previously they had a fast service and very good attention, but asking for orders by phone is disappointing, they tell you that not only paying do they take your order and when you arrive they tell you that there are many orders that you will wait a long time, I do not think I will always ask for my orders and They were on time, now I change for bad attention.
Good place for inexpensive baleadas. Lately the plantains have been hard for some reason so I stopped ordering them. Beef soup (sopa de res) is great--hot and filling.
