Right atmosphere and very cosy. Decent cost and who doesn't love hot chocolate and beignet on a cold day. Update as of (8/14/19) Until recently you could pay with debit or credit cards. Now all the locations I've visited only accept cash. And the employees don't seem to know the reason why. My kids and one other lady were the only people here today. View all feedback.
What gigi h doesn't like about Cafe Du Monde Esplanade Mall:
While in New Orleans I had to have Beignets. Kenner location rude staff cafe dirty staff talking and laughing. Beignets were good but could not enjoy it because of dirty windows floor and tables, on top of no smiles. View all feedback.

While waiting for a gift to be engraved at another store in the mall, I decided to grab some beignets to pass the time. They cook the beignets to order, I guess because there isn’t much traffic in the mall. I thought “yay, fresh beignets.” I ordered 2 orders of beignets and 2 bottled waters and paid over $20! How is that right!?! Anywho, we grabbed a table and waited a few minutes. I happened to look over and see a tray on the counter with beignets and vaguely heard someone say order up. I mean, I give you over $20 and no one can bring my order to the table? There were 3 people working. One was cooking beignets and the other 2, well were not doing anything. The beignets were hot but didn’t taste good at all. I think they were over-cooked because they were a bit dry. It was disappointing, but I shouldn’t have been surprised based on the lack of service.
I love the pillow aoftness of a warm benet and a cup of that amazing coffee. The staff coulda been a bit more accommodating and perhaps cracked a smile or two.
