Easy access, plenty of parking. Nice atmosphere in the front section, with bar-type seating and tables too. For groups there's a dining room at the rear. We had reserved in that dining room for party of 5 visiting from out of province; that was quiet and private when we went (1-2pm). Menu is varied, many choices. Food was well presented and good tasting. Service was very good. Prices reasonable. View all feedback.
What Riley D'Amore doesn't like about Sammy J's Grill & Bar:
I ordered takeout from this restaurant. The bun was very dry and hard to bite into. The person taking my order didn't seem to know what celiac disease was and didn't understand when I asked about gluten-free options. They also didn't note my celiac disease on the order, which led to me accidentally consuming gluten. View all feedback.
I have never had meatloaf as good as the one at this restaurant. The service was excellent as well. Despite arriving just before closing time at 9:45pm, they still served us graciously. We will definitely be returning the next time we are in Kelowna.
The restaurant has fantastic decor and the service is very attentive. The menu offers a diverse selection of appetizers and main courses, such as fried cauliflower, Jambalaya, or a burger for those who prefer a more traditional choice. Whatever you decide to order, it will be served fresh and delicious. This is one of my top spots to dine in West Kelowna.
Overall: The restaurant has new, tall tables and a bar, but lacks flair. 6/10 Décor: Modern tables and chairs, but a bit Spartan and sterile. 6/10 Ambiance: There is a younger crowd and music, but not much ambiance. 6/10 Menu: Limited selections. 6/10 Service: Quick to seat you, okay server. 6.5/10 Presentation: Meals are nicely plated and drinks are well-made. 7.5/10 Freshness: Salad is crisp and cool, chicken is hot. 7/10 Palate: Both the salad and Skillet are tasty. 7/10 Intangibles: Outdoor patio with a mountain view, but nothing really stands out. 6/10 Value: Prices are in line with others, with a total of $81 for two drinks and three meals. 6/10 TOTAL: 62.5/100
I became very ill after eating the beef sandwich, so overall it was not a good experience.
The restaurant was a bit noisy, even though it wasn't crowded, making it difficult to hear our own conversation at times. The food was okay, nothing too exciting, but the prices were reasonable. The chicken penne dish had a generous amount of bacon, which was great for bacon lovers, but it would have been better if the bacon was crispier. The samurai bowl had too much sauce, overpowering the other flavors towards the end of the meal. The service was fast, friendly, and our server was knowledgeable, helping my grandma with her food choices.
