Contribute FeedbackPho Soc Trang offers a mix of reviews, from disappointed customers to loyal fans. Some feel the pho lacks traditional flavors and portion sizes are lacking, while others praise the flavorful broth and generous portions at a great price. The service receives glowing reviews, with diners appreciating the friendly and efficient staff. The menu offers a variety of options, from pork skewers to vegetarian dishes, satisfying different tastes. While some point out minor drawbacks like the absence of basil or small meat portions, overall, Pho Soc Trang seems to be a popular spot for a delicious and affordable Vietnamese meal in Kelowna.
Went for the pho and spring rolls. The spring rolls come out hot so you know they are fresh. They have a nice tasting filling with good consistency love them. I ordered a spicy bowl of chicken/rare beef and veg pho. It was the perfect amount of veg, noodles and meat. I like the spicy broth, your stuffed after a large pho but its all health and good eats.
I ordered the pork brochette to start which was ok. Small for $8. As always write any new Viet restaurant I got the pho. The waitress dropped off the usual side and bean sprouts, a few cilantro leaves and one(?) slice of jalapeño and a lemon(weird... I'm a lime guy) I was certain they must have forgotten the Basil... But alas. It's one of those places. Those places being the ones that either don't use basil(bad) the others are the ones that save money by not using it(worse). I'm not sure which this is but I'm starting to wonder if I should start packing my own. As expected the broth was underwhelming. Had none of those cinnamon/clove/cardamom and my fav the anise flavours associated with good broth. The broth was very cloudy and almost had a buttery smell which is odd. The broth was also very cloudy, not sure if one is a result of the other. I loaded up with siracha and hoisin just to give it "not just broth" flavour. I feel duped by the people who called this "the best pho" or even good pho. On the bright side the service was brilliant. But at $24 after tip for a bowl of soup and 2 small skewers, my hunt for a Pho Goto in Kelowna continues.
This place is my heart pho life. We were here from the beginning almost 8 years ago, and Pho Soc Trang will always be a big part of me! Thank you for all the good times, good people and great food ❤️
...and anything else you fancy on the menu. I always get the spicy lemon grass chicken Pho and it's fantastic. My daughter always finds something vegetarian and loves it. My hubby is a little more adventurous and always finds it delicious. We usually start with the spring rolls, which to me are not traditional Vietnamese spring rolls, but I'm not Vietnamese so I could be wrong. I like the ones made from the thin rice wraps and are sticky. The ones they serve are still good however - my dad said they were the best he'd ever eaten. Service is excellent, the price is very good. The only thing I don't like about this restaurant is it's closed on Tuesdays. I don't know why but I often crave Pho on a Tuesday!
Did a little research and decided to go to Pho Soc Trang for lunch at 1pm on Saturday. You have to walk up a flight of wide stairs as they are on the 2nd floor above the street. We were greeted promptly, seated quickly and our order was taken when we were ready. The staff is so friendly and fast here. Never had to wait for anything.I had the Large Pho with Rare Beef and Shredded Chicken and my partner had the Large Pho with Rare Beef with Beef Balls. Both of our meals were delicious. Piping hot and the broth was filled with flavour. The only complaint was the chicken, it was chicken breast and had the texture of jerky. Very chewy. I have had stewing hen before and this was exactly the same. I don't think I would return based on this experience. The staff was exceptional !Price was approx $25 before tip. Even though the chicken was way too tough the service got 20% Thank you
