We love coming here everytime we come to Kelowna. We especially love ordering the dish where we make our own salad rolls. It's a great experience for the kids plus it is so flavorful. The pho is also very good. We eat Vietnamese food all the time and this is one of our favs! The service was great too! Very friendly and attentive. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Hoang Gia:
I have been eating at this restaurant, at least twice a month for the past 5 years. I have noted that the quality of the customer service has noticeably declined. The appetizers and main arrives at the same time, hardly anyone check on you afterwards, if you don't order right away when they come to your table, you will have to wait a long time until they come back around to the point that feels like you're being puni... Don't waste your time with other Vietnamese restaurants in town! This place is by far the best is Kelowna if you have a serious pho craving. They always have the proper accompaniments for their dishes, the beef is of good quality, the broth arrives steaming hot and full of flavour. Also has consistent hours, unlike the downtown option.
Three of us shared a tempura veggie appetizer and were a bit surprised to have the main dishes served about 1 minute later! But other than that hitch the food was very tasty - a vegetable noodle soup, a vegetarian tofu stir fry and grilled chicken vermicelli. We liked the artwork on the walls. We would certainly return the next time we pass through Kelowna.
We have the pork/spring roll bún and pineapple stir fry and both were amazing. I would go as far as to say it was the best bún I have ever had!
I'm the type of person that likes to look at the positive aspects of a dining experience. That said, I've never been so embarrassed by a server in my life!! Truthfully! I went in for lunch at Hoang Gia with a group from work and got asked for my identification which is not a big deal, however, the fact that he made such a big deal of my age compared to my coworkers made me feel so inappropriate that I cancelled my order and walked out. As a manager of another industry local, I wouldn't expect that eating out with various of coworkers had to be an age appropriate event. I wish I could give you some feedback on food and atmosphere as to food and drink but due to unforeseen circumstances I'm not able to. I post reviews wherever I go to help readers with their decision making but this location will never get a good review from me.
Recommended by a friend. I had the lunch box, just delicious. Friend had the mango sushi and called it wonderful. We were four people, seated quickly and served accordingly. i would eat here again.
