The staff here are exceptionally friendly, the food is surprisingly delicious, and the atmosphere is lovely, all for a reasonable price. While the parking lot can get full, finding a spot on the side streets is quite easy. There's a shop across the street for any essentials you might need for day trips. Despite the town's name, there is no castle to be found, but it's convenient to visit other nearby attractions like John o’Groats. A stroll to the seafront offers stunning views, and you'll come across numerous abandoned buildings, as well as the remains of a factory that once shipped flagstones now seen in cities like London, Glasgow, and even as far away as New York. The factory was operational until concrete took over.
My partner and I had dinner here on Saturday night, and we both ordered the haddock and chips. It was absolutely fantastic—definitely the best I've had in at least a decade! The service was exceptional, and I couldn't find any faults. After enjoying my sticky toffee pudding, we both left feeling completely satisfied. It was a wonderful experience right in our neighborhood, and I can't wait to come back. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. Thank you!
