We wanted a quiet table. we sat in the middle with another table in 3 inches. we have problems with medical impediment and both use crisp. this little table was difficult to use and required us to keep on our doses through our meal.
Excellent restaurant. we ate at jo2 twice in 3 days as it was so good. overall my wife and I had 8 appetizers and 1 main course. all were consistently good what is unusual for a restaurant. the ravioli, calliflower and carrot dumplings were especially unforgettable.
Our evening dinner here in the mai so much that it is the third reservation we made (after hotel and flight) for our visit in oktober. local, fresh food prepared professionally and served in a casually raised hole in the wall. Probably the best eating on the island so that we are worth eating here.
We always make sure to have dinner a couple of times when we visit Kauai. Great unique approach to local proteins and veggies.
J02 restaurant in Kapaa, Kauai has received a mix of reviews from its patrons. While some diners expressed disappointment with the limited vegan options, slow service, and occasional miscommunications, others raved about the high quality and unique flavors of the food. The restaurant's seasonal and well-seasoned dishes, such as roasted fennel tikka and coconut curry spaghetti squash, were particularly praised. Despite some setbacks, like delayed food and occasional missteps, many diners found J02 to be a standout dining option on the island, with some even making reservations months in advance to ensure they could experience the exceptional cuisine offered.

We requested a quiet table. We were seated in the middle with an another table within 3 inches. We have medical disability issues and both are using canes. This small table was difficult to use and required us to hold onto our canes through out our meal.
We had eaten at A Pacific Cafe many times. Knowing chef had returned to Kapaa was appetising. There were 3 of us, reservations at 1700. Promptly seated by the bar, servers were great. We started with the JO 3 tiered fish appetiser. Roasted Octopus, Ahi collar and a poached Salmon. Half the octopus was tender and tasty the other half super chewy. The collar was a bit too charred in some parts, the salmon was fantastic. We followed with Curry Califlower, amazing. Duck salad, my dining partner is all about duck and ate it all. Tempura bean salad, crispy and delicious. The roasted Fennel was super complex. I would have it as a main. The risotto was forgettable and was really late as was the Salmon. Knowing how great chef we will return. Found myself longing for the Firecracker rolls from the past. The price was very reasonable.

Enjoyed our dinner here in May so much that it was the third reservation we made (after hotel and flight) for our visit in October. Local, fresh food expertly prepared and served in a casually upscale hole-in-the-wall. Probably the best food on the island so we’ll worth making the effort to dine here.
The hostess tried her best to seat out party of four according to my preference. Outdoor seating was delightful. It was adjacent to parking lot but with simple bamboo wall, we felt we were dining in a zen garden. Since we had a late lunch, we ordered several small plates and shared them. Everything was tasty; rock shrimp risotto, cucumbers and Moi were execute. Soba noodle in many plates enhanced the presentation. Wait staff was attentive and courteous. I did not have much expectation as this place a resort restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by JO2.

Years ago we always ate at A Pacific Cafe in Kauai. We were so sad when it closed. Chef Josselin has now opened JO2.. The menu is a bit different but the essence of the flavors of the original restaurant is still there. The scallop raviolis are a must..the fish was fresh and the human lamb was delicious.
My family and I had an amazing culinary experience here. We chose about 8 plates from the small plates and vegetables menus to share amongst four of us and our waitress was so amazing and coursed the dishes out for us from lightest to heaviest. We lovedspending a good amount of time savoring each of the dishes which came out with a nice amount of time in between. Each dish wasso well seasoned and thought out that you could not want for anything else. The flavors melded together perfectly and theplating was just beautiful to look at. It truly was an experience, not just a meal.
Top 2 meals on Kauai! Food was fantastic. We wanted almost everything on the menu. We ended up getting scallop raviolis, tempura green beans (local favorite), ahi scallop combo and thai snapper and loved them all. The service was wonderful. Tami is theabsolute best. I would come back just to see her. Because our mains took a little longer than expected, they sent out the porkshrimp rolls as a courtesy and they were delicious. The restaurant itself is tucked away in a small mall area and isn’tlocated in the nicest location but the food and service is worth it. Also the Yuzu cheesecake was a delight! 10/10!
A real gem. Interesting and tasty fusion dishes, fast and friendly service, an elegant and understated setting, and exceptional value. We got the fixed price dinner (with the paired wine) and had our best dinner on the island. The lilikoi cheesecake inparticular is something that I will be daydreaming about for years to come. Make a reservation for just after they open and beready to be wowed!

Since our meal took a bit longer than expected, they kindly sent out the black shrimp as a courtesy, which were delicious. The restaurant is situated in a small shopping center in a stunning location, and both the food and service are definitely worth it. Also, the Yuzu cheesecake was a delight! A solid 10/10!

While their vegan options were not extensive, and as of 2/15/24 there was no special vegan menu or any marks on the regular menu as to the veg/vegan options, our waitress was vegan and was happy to help and make recommendations. It wasn't super loud in there as others have said. We did have a reservation in advance but didn't request somewhere quiet.
Only 3 items are on the menu are vegan. The curry, cauliflower, and bisque. The flavor of the curry and cauliflower wasn’t the best, they both could have tasted better. For the cost I expended more.
The food here was fantastic. I had the roasted carrot ravioli and a roasted cauliflower and chickpea dish. The portions are not large, so you may want more than one thing, and do expect to drop some cash here. All the dishes are elegantly composed and beautifully presented with unusual edible flowers. Tell your server that you are vegan. The complimentary starter had cheese, but perhaps you could ask for it without. It can be noisy, so make a reservation and ask for a more quiet table.
I had three vegan sides and they were as artfully presented as my omnivore companion’s dishes and the flavors were wonderful.
