Phikul Thai Bistro - Kansas City

We ordered the appetizer sampler platter, pad Thai, and shrimp fried rice. Unfortunately, everything was just average.

I understand that Massaman Curry isn’t an authentic Thai dish, and I may be showing my somewhat superficial appreciation for Thai cuisine whenever I order it—which is quite often at places that serve it. However, the Massaman Curry here was simply outstanding. It had the perfect balance of spice and sweetness, the rice was fluffy, and all the vegetables were cooked to perfection, tender yet not mushy. Since trying this dish here, every other version I’ve had has been a letdown. I find myself wanting to return to Kansas City just for your curry. Cheers!

The overall food and service is outstanding however, the temperature in the restaurant is always extremely uncomfortable.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially for someone experiencing this cuisine for the first time. The restaurant was clean, and the food was among the best I've had in a long time. I also appreciated the option to customize the spice levels for the dishes, which was extremely helpful.

The food was excellent and fast. A little surprised that we were the only ones in the restraunt seated during a Friday night dinner service, tons of carry out went through. . The thai wings were a sticky and amazing highlight. The Pad Thai and Satay were hot and peanuty, with fresh ground toasted peanuts on the side. We also really liked the dipping sauce served with the crab rangoons, better than the usual premade red sweet and sour you find elsewhere. Also props the young waitress who was very attentive and sweet. Thank you
